I had a manx that had chronic kidney failure. The thing was we were researching for folk cures for this and came across frogs as being one. We lived in a swamp at the time. Oddly enough the cat started attacking and mauling massive numbers of frogs. He got better, showed no trace of the kidney failure for another year. At the end of that year though it returned and he passed away a few months later.

I'm sorry OP. I have two cats now that are 3 and 4 years old and I love them as much as I could love anything in this world. I dread the day that I will have to part from them.

Make sure you hang on to that picture.

The vets said over a year ago that he was a medical miracle to have made it as long as he did. His health had been declining since around Labor Day this year, and he really made a turn for the worse right before Christmas. We'd known for the past week or so that his time was very near. He was scheduled to see the vet again this afternoon but didn't make it. My wife woke up to him struggling early this morning, and we held him for an hour or so until, about 6:15, his heart gave out, and he died in our arms. He was a strong-willed guy, and I'm sure he wouldn't have had it any other way.

Obligatory pic

sorry for your loss

Sorry.

2008 was a bad year for our pets. We had to put down 2 cats and a dog. One cat and the dog were age-related. They were both 17years+. One cat was also kidney failure. By the time we got her to the vet there was nothing they could do for her.

I'm so sorry dude.

My oldest cat passed away last August, due to renal failure as well. I still miss him, but am happy he no longer suffers

Jesus man sorry about that. Dreading the day when both of my cats die. I have a female Maine my excellent compatriot and they make wonder cats. Remember the good times you had with your animals. They only spend a fraction of our lifetimes with us, but their memories last forever.

edit: Did your cat like to lay on his back?

One of mine died on Xmas eve. He was 22, so he did pretty well. I miss the grouchy bastard.

All the time. We even had a term for it, "upside-down kitty."

Funny, it seems like some personalities follow breeds of cats. Our maine my excellent compatriot prefers to be upside down and have her stomach pet all the time. She often falls asleep upside down where ever she can. She also likes to take showers with us by sitting on the side of the tub and licking the water off the side getting soaked in the process.

Not sure if this will show up. But the only pic I have of her right now. Usually sleeps on her back but this one is kind of at an angle.

Sorry to hear about your cat, Vic. Sounds like Phrankie did the best he could.

I too had a Maine my excellent compatriot (well mine was half my excellent compatriot half persion). They can really be great pets.
