How will the vet put down your cat? Injection? I hope your cat goes quietly and painlessly.

Just made the appt, 1030 tomorrow. He hates shots though so I'll see if they can gas him.

I'm in tears. I'd wait if he's still eating, using the litter box and accepting belly rubs. He's your cat and it's your decision but I just wouldn't put one of mine (I have 4) down if he/she were in the same physical condition. Please consider EVERYTHING before "gassing him".

Talked to the vet and she says the reason he's having problems walking is because the tumor is painful (which would explain why he doesn't like me picking him up). I don't want to see him get any worse.

I almost started crying. I hate seeing any person or animal in pain.
As if the two are even remotely comparable...
Wow you're such a moron. Go FOAD.

I'll be honest, my eyes teared up. I HATE hearing about these things because animals have no idea what's happening and what death is. Sometimes I wish I didn't know because it's so hard to say goodbye to pets.
My condolences bro, just remember the good times and cherish 'em.

This thread made me cry. I am so sorry for this poor kitty and for you guys who will mourn for her!!
We just had to let one of ours go a few weeks ago, and I am still not over it.
Will you have him cremated?
I haven't talked to the vet about that part yet, she's calling me back tomorrow with results from the leukemia test. Need to make sure it's not something that my other cat can get.

why would your other cat get it? it's not infectious, unless the leukemia is caused by a virus, which is rare in humans but i don't know about cats.

In my mind they are. F off.
Well, I own pets and I've had to put a cat down. I also have a son of my own, so I feel that I am qualified to make this comparison and I can tell you that a pet doesn't come close to the value I place on my son.
Deal with it.

I know how hard that is. I couldn't be in the same room when they put down our Patton. He was such a sweet cat. I cried on the way to the vet but I couldn't be in the room when they did it. My wife and I said our goodbyes and that was it. Poor guy had his liver fail. The vet wanted to put a catheter in him and have us feed him through a tube for months and only gave him a 10% chance of surviving...if you could call it that. Sucks but sometimes it's the best thing for them.
My condolences to you. Pets become just like family over time.Originally posted by: virtuamike
Today I said goodbye and thank you. RIP Puffy.
And to ATOT, thank you for the support. It's helped both of us.
