That sucks, I hope that's not a new thing chase is requiring. I guess people are abusing it so they need proof before they proceed.

I just disputed one from Discover a couple of weeks ago, and it was literally 1 click on the website, I had my money back within 4 hours, no paperwork needed. The company that I disputed with called me 3 days later apologizing for the error, so I know that discover followed up with them quickly.

I disputed one other charge several years ago with Chase, and I did not have to submit any paperwork, it was just as you said.

It must be a new thing.

That's what the locksmith gets for such an idiotic ad. Don't put "$15 Locksmith 24/7" in your ad unless you're only charging $15 for 24/7 service. Seems pretty straightforward to me, good job OP.

This happened to my sister when she locked herself out of her car ... while it was running.

They said $50 over the phone, demanded $180. I came down, gave them $60 and said get out of here fools. They were also European with thick accents.

All locksmiths do this. Same happened with my friend. Over the phone it was $50, then after the job was done they tacked on "fees" and demanded $200. He paid via CC and did a chargeback.

Using Credit cards gives a consumer powerful rights, the credit card issuers don't like. But still the credit card profits are so obscene, all credit card providers have special funds set aside to make people like Nick whole rather than force someone like Nick to take it to court.

But odds are Nick's locksmith got paid their $200.00 also, the credit card system has to make the merchants certain that a credit card is better than gold.

And without a sense of merchant liability, the merchant does not check either. As a result credit card fraud runs into the billions if not trillions. Its just not profitable to throw the knowledgeable crooks who really abuse the system in jail to protect the integrity of the system. And without the credit card issuer pressing criminal charges, engaging in identity theft is a almost risk free profession.

But in a case like Nick's, they simply write it off without a thought. So IMHO, Nick you did the right thing, too many people would have paid up to avoid a hassle.

Yep. Sleep well tonight. And tomorrow night. A couple of weeks you'll be begging them to take your $185.

I would be somewhat paranoid too for a while. Oh well.

Iver never paid less than $30 for a locksmith. A $15 price tag should have screamed "too good to be true", scam, etc. It probably cost them that much in gas to get there.

A few years ago I stopped near a park to throw away some trash after I was done eating lunch. I was 10 feet away from the trash can so I didnt turn off the car but closed the door without realizing what I was doing. The car had manual locks. Now the car was locked with the engine running. Thats the nice thing about auto locks is that you cant lock the door with the key in the ignition (most cars Ive owned).

I walked several blocks and arranged for a locksmith to show up for a low, low price of $25. This was my nephews car so I told him the bad news while I was waiting for the LS to show up. He laughed and said, "You dont have to worry a spare key is underneath the driver side fender in a magnetic holder". Wow.

I found the key and opened the door just as the LS showed up. He looked like a nice guy and showed up with his family. I felt bad and told him the situation. While he wasnt happy about showing up for no reason I gave him some gas money and we all went on our merry way.

3 buttons and 10 minutes minimum. You be SOL...

Youll be SOL in this situation.

Cry me a river? Shotgun blast? Die?

Don't break into my fucking house?

Maybe they will put the peices in the jail cell to rot after.

Also learn to think the mafia isnt around the corner everywhere, they arn't all powerful and they suck compared to the cops.

You know this, everybody knows this. OP is in the right stop defending criminals.

Type in clear statements if you would like a reasonable reply. Your post is cryptic at best.

edit: ok, I THINK I know what you're trying to say. Grab your gun and shoot them, then they'll rot in jail. Mafia blah blah who fucking knows. What exactly does everyone know? Who's defending criminals?

Something is not kosher with this advertisement. If you go to the website listed in the Google Premium advertisement, no mention of $15 and the number listed on the web page differs from the Google ad.

I guess the cheapness was at least beaten by you haven to make a second key. How generous for you!
