You know, they know where you live and they can open your door?

If I was a guessing man I'd say the after hours charge should be $60-$85. Even if it isn't in the ad they should tell you on the phone what the price is and if they didn't I sure would have asked.

I don't see how a person could keep a business operating on $15/service call. You figure 20 minutes travel time there and back, 5-15 minutes working on the lock, and gas and all the upkeep on the vehicle.

They already approved it, I see the -$185 back on my card.
Just so you know if I'm not mistaken, the SOP here would be for the company to issue you a credit immediately after receiving your side of the story. They'll then give the locksmith a chance to give their side of the story. If the locksmith comes up with a better story, say a signed contract with a $15 service fee, you'll probably see that $185 back on your card in a couple of cycles.

Also, while I clearly have no idea where you live, I wouldn't put that much faith in key codes or magnetic releases. They're useless if one of your neighbors just holds the door for them.

I'll keep the thread updated for both the chargeback and the pending break-in/assualt.

oh no! Really??!!!

Yeah, I run the back end of my company's charging system. When a charge goes through they keep all of your credit card info, including your full number and your CVS (if you gave it to them).

Derp. Usually this is used for refunds, but can be used in bad ways too.

I'm joking. I'm not worried about that in the slightest.

I'm interested.

While it's absolutely ridiculous for any sane person to think that someone will travel and unlock you door 24/7 for 15.00, if the ad had no fine print I'm curious how this will work out.

BTW, AFAIK all CCs will temporarily refund you the amount to placate the card holder but that doesn't mean you have won any resolution.

The 'defendent' will respond and then a decision will be made.

We'll see.

chase called my wife tonight, 4k in fraud on the card today.

taking care of it and new cards go in the mail tomorrow, but they warned us they could be a week.

we use the card for everything, it had alot of bills auto-pay setup on it, now i have audit statements to find it all and call them all telling them to hold if its due soon and pay by *gasp* check or see if they will take a debit over the phone.

Yeah, but they know where you live and can bust through your door in under 5 seconds.

This happened to my sister when she locked herself out of her car ... while it was running.

They said $50 over the phone, demanded $180. I came down, gave them $60 and said get out of here fools. They were also European with thick accents.

It happend to me a few years back. I worked 2nd shift and was off around 2 a.m.

Drove home and stopped by the Post Office to drop off a few letters. The drop off mailbox was a bit off so I step out of the car to drop all the letters while the car was running. The wind blew and shut the door. I did have to call a local shop "Pop A Lock". The dispatcher did tell me that they would have to charge extra because of the hour. Of course I said yes, $100 IIRC.
