The kids who have B's are the VERY smart kids. They should be in Honors, but I guess they're just taking it easy this year. Plus, I'm just not very good at Chemistry to begin with. I know I'm better then D work, though.

It's Sharma. You know, the mole .

If you really think that the teacher is not teaching well, you should talk to the science supervisor.

maybe you're just stupid at chemistry?

I know I'm no star at Chemistry, but when no kids out of 25 get an A (or anything near an A) in a non-honors course, I think it starts showing it's not the students entire fault.

I take the blame for not working as hard as I could have, but still, it's ridiculous. Does anyone have any ideas as how I can relate to my teacher more?

But if you read, you should AT LEAST get a C, especially in regular chemistry

Actually, the fact that it isn't an honor's course tells me that this is probably a class full of 'slackers'.

I've got lots of family that are teachers, one is a physics teacher. She gets complaints every year from parents boo hooing about their precious child deserves an A. She refuses to give the child anything, they have to earn it. She regularly gets students in her class that have no grasp of math, yet expect to pass physics. Once, the highest grade in the class was a C.

Now, her honor's classes are twice as tough, and regularly she has alot of A's - different classes of students.

Look, I hate to sound rude, but you're not in the class, nor do you know the people in the class. It is NOT a slackers course, period. There's kids in that class taking two honors Math classes, honors English, Honors History, Honors World Language, as well as an elective class. I myself am taking two maths plus honors history. Just because our strong subject is not Science, so we don't take an Honors class does not mean its a slacker class.

Thats why I said probably, not definately. It 'my' limited (admittedly) experience, non-honors classes were that way.

Perhaps, the best person to answer this question would be the teacher.

I'm going to stay after class and talk to her tomorrow; hopefully she'll cut me some slack.

I can tell you that if she is as described, and you are not embellishing, then she will be very resistant to 'cutting slack'. Approaching the situation from a "What can I do to be a better student?" will likely get more information from her.

You just have a class filled with morons 'nuff said

I come from an IB background and Honors classes are a joke compared to what we went through. Honors classes are nothing. If you have trouble in honors courses, don't ever try IB courses. You'll get slaughthered by the end of the first week, your behind will be bleeding profusely and your egos decimated.

Post the returned exams/quizzes your teacher gave. We'll let you know if they are too difficult or your class is full or retards.

Bell curve does not guarantee there's A in the class.

I love the type that has to make the OP feel inferior by always have an experience that they went through in their life that makes your experience "nothing". They always have to one-up everybody. Grow up.

I saw at least 10 D's, 10 C's, and the rest B's. Not high B's, low B's. We've got some smart kids in our class that maintain A's and B's in all their other classes. This is a regular, high school, Chemistry class. No Honors, no AP, just regular. There should be at least SOME A's in the class.

The problem is our teacher doesn't teach for sh!t. Her accent is very strong, and it's hard to understand her, or follow what she is saying when she is trying to explain something. On top of that, most of the stuff we do is on our own, and we get no explanation, so we all do very poorly.

I tried talking to her after class, and she basically said "too bad." I went to talk to my GC, and she basically said the same. I'm going to try to talk to my teacher again tomorrow, when everyone else in the class is gone, and hopefully I can convince her to let me get some extra credit in, or something.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, I have A's and B's in all other classes, and I had a B in Honors Biology last year, and my last year's GPA was a 3.8.

That is exactly the same in my school. Our chem teacher is so fvcking stupid. She doesn't teach. She hands out "seatwork" everyday and expects us to know it without her teaching it to us.

How am I making the OP feel inferior? Do my words hurt that much? Oh noes, call the whambulance!
Op is a big boy now, he/she can handle it. I mean if these words hurt you, you should thank your gods you didn't have any of my teachers. They were merciless in their coments
/sarcasm

I'm just saying he/she could be in a much worse position than what he/shes in now.
I mean good students don't just get bad grades. If you're given material to learn, you either learn it or you don't. Theres only so much a teacher can ask you from the material..
