My clock resets to April 11th 2016 upon every reboot?

I'm not sure if this is a security issue or what, but every time I reboot my PC the clock resets itself to April 11th 2016.

I did run a full virus scan using the latest Avast and it came back 100% clean.

It's just very very odd.

Did you check BIOS time?

I had issue like that long time ago and it was BIOS problem. I upgraded BIOS and changed out MB battery and it fixed my problem.

I've never seen it go forward in time, but I have seen the clock in BIOS clock reset back to an old date/time (default for that BIOS version? Not sure how it picks it...) if the CMOS battery needs to be replaced.

Well that was my question too... I've seen backward all the time when batteries die etc.
But forward? That's a new one.

This. I had the exact same problem with my laptop. My solution: I downloaded Dimension 4 and set it to autoupdate every 5 minutes.

It is not the CMOS battery.
In fact I just started up my PC (from being off all night to answer the other question posted earlier) and I notced when it first gets into Windows the date and time are correct.

After some programs load (Pidgin, some gadgets etc) the time then changes.

interesting - apparently Sony had something similar due to the time format of their BIOS date. fixes with an update though (you need to have purchased your lappie from Japan, though).

From doing some quick searches it looks like it is some sort of malware. It sets the clock
ahead to make your security apps think they are expired. I would try running Malwarebytes
to see if it detects and cleans anything
