Wow...well, this thread is still here, granny pr0n is still circulating, and I've recovered from my 100 post neffing spree in OT yesterday

Ummm...isn't this fake yet?

"And the 1st Annual PCResources/NicklasReugen Forum BITCH award goes to..."

OK, I had to reply. I read through the whole thing. Some comments:

<< << << You know how much of AMD's market consists of overclockers? Maybe 1% or so? It's a pretty insignificant market for them to invesnt extensive research in. >>
100% bullshit. Try 75+%. Practically everybody that uses these forums are OCers. Think about it for a sec, how the hell can it ONLY be 1% if 95% of the people here are OCers, and 60% use AMD. That 60% is probably 80% of AMD's total revenue.
>>
>>

um, research your numbers. A very small percentage of computer users even know enough about them to know what overclocking is. The numbers are between 1% and 5% all users overclock. Granted, AMD cpus are more often used for overclocking, but still. 75% of users overclocking? lol

We all know that computer circulates around physics

I haven't heard that brought up before as an argument. All computers "circulate" around are 0's and 1's. Design, implementation, etc. involves lots of physics, but I don't think my CPU cares about physics.

I cannot be held 100% responsible for it, AMD must take some blame for not implementing a secure heat control system.. <sniffle*sniffle>

Um, Yes, you can be held 100% responsible. YOU had the power turned on. YOU dumped water on it. YOU by "accident" turned the power on. Learn to take responsibility for your actions.

As far as suggestions hardware suggestions ... I suggest you go to some website and configure a system. cyberpowerinc.com as a good configurator. So do Dell and Compaq.

<< MAN THIS SUCKS!

I was masturbating to some granny pr0n while building my computer and eating Cheetos. While I was wanking, I spooged. I looked at my penis, and noticed it was orange from the Cheetos, so I tried to wipe it off. While doing so, I knocked a randomly placed gallon of water all over my rig, which I foolishly placed open to hold my granny pr0n mag. DAMN! When my computer exploded, it killed my fern. Then I stomped out the fire, and accidentally stomped on my Palm V. I am blaming AMD for this. Those bastards! I'm going to over-spend on an Intel processor based setup, which would die EXACTLY the same way due to MY STUPIDITY, but I heard Intel likes to watch.

Idiot. DocSmarts, it is ENTIRELY your fault that the rig broke. Chalk this up to experience, stop trying to defend yourself, and don't say something stupid like "I'm not using an AMD rig ever again because of this" when it isn't AMD or your mobo's manufacturer-it's you!
>>

That's the funniest isht I've read all year. BUAHAHAHAHAH

Gotta go get a tissue and wip the tears from my eyes.....heheheheheheheheheheheheheheheheeheh!

Yeah, man. It wasn't AMD's fault that your computer burned down, it was that damn electricity. Stop using it immideatly and buy a bunch of batteries, else god knows what that damn flammable AC may burn down for you. Sueing a power company for destroying your computer might be good idea also...

Well, I read this post and I must say this is very, very funny!!

1) I feel bad that you "YOU" fried your comp

2) When working on a computer it is a good idea to unplug the unit!!

3) Overclocking is not supported by any warranty be it Intel or AMD. When you OC a CPU you null the warranty. Now from exp. Athlons do run warmer than P4 however when you read the instructions and apply a good HS/FAN you will have no problem. It was you who decided to OC your CPU not AMD.

So AMD is not going to replace anything. It would have worked fine for what it was designed for. It was you who wanted to do something above..... Next time be more cautious but take the flame like a man, you screwed up no excuses

<< Didn't I say that this was my DAD's computer?! He likes AMD for some reason and he asked me to OC it. You are blaming me just because of your AMD lust. AMD should have Heat control as their #1 priority instead of this proprietary Pentium numbering rating! It was not 100% my fault, AMD takes blame as well for not caring for its overclockers. >>

page six, i doubt anyone is reading this, but anyway:

personally, my parents know I'm more aware of modern computer stuff than they are... so they rely on me for info. If I felt that AMD made bad chips, we wouldn't have 3 AMDs (athlon, tbird, duron).

so either your dad is a moron, or he knows you are a moron. I'll go with the second. but... if he bought something you recommended against, why would he trust you to watercool the system????

I never knew that this thread would get so much attention. All I basically wanted was a few MB and Chipset recommendations.

As for all of you insulting me, please stop, this is getting too lame. I don't have any time for your stupidity.

hammer09's post.

And why should they believe that more than the probability that you are probably and AMD Zealot?

<< When water is de-ionized, it removes the electrically charged particles through a process called osmosis.
>>

Osmosis? Not only are a total idiot for ruining your comptuer, but you also have no clue about what you're talking about.

Osmosis is the DIFFUSION of particles through a semi-permeable membrane. De-ionization of water is not done through osmosis.

Listen, take this piece of advice. GO AWAY AND NEVER COME BACK. It'll be the best present you'll ever give us.
>>

F#ck you too. You said it! "Osmosis is the DIFFUSION of particles through a semi-permeable membrane. De-ionization of water is not done through osmosis." When you run osmosis the salt particles are left behind on the other side of the membrane.

Please get a high school diploma before making a fool out of yourself.

<< Ummm, if you unplug the frikken computer you don't really need to worry about the computer being grounded. You just need to worry that you aren't carrying and electrical charge. Why would you work on a plugged in computer?????? >>

I will vouch for the fact that there are A+ books that state to have the machine plugged in, as to provide a ground path so that the chassis is properly grounded. This may be a valid point for AT systems, but definately not for ATX.
Also, because I am A+ certified, I can attest to how worthless the certification really is
>>

Funny. All they give you is a little card for system builder certification when anybody can build a system.

Note to self: Do not burn up computer, then throw water on it and try to get a refund for it and post here that it's not my fault, because my Anandtech brothers and sisters will kill me and laugh at me.

LOL, this is the best thread I've read in a long time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I leave my computers plugged in when I work on them, although I turn off the power at the surge protector.
I rarely use a grounding strap but I do touch the frame when I first go into a computer and touch it often while in there.

With out thinking too deeply, I can not see how osmosis would de-ionize water.
Reverse osmosis must be what you are thinking of.
(That is a fancy way of saying filtered water.)

DocSmarts....I read this whole charade....since last night...had no comment (well I would like to have seen this thread padded long ago..) until you said that little line... You can change the title of this farce and a mod will lock it right the hell up....it is up to you ...unless you just love the notoriety
