My computer gets very hot, what should i do?

Hey guys. My computer including the monitor gets very hot after using it for about and hour or so. Even the cd rom (i guess) gets very hot and if i put a cd in the cd rom and by the time i remove it again (in less than 5-10 mins) the cd gets damn hot.
I can't understand what i should do as i need the PC most of the time. Will this problem affect the cpu and other parts in any way? Please help :-(

Is the computer well ventilated? Are you covering up the front air intake grill or do you have the computer up against a wall where the exhausting heat cannot easily escape? Is the computer in a hutch or other box type piece of furniture?

You may consider adding an additional 80mm case fan to the front or rear of your case to circulate more air through it. Monitors tend to get very warm, but they are designed to handle that heat unless you have them stuck inside a confined space. Those slots on the top and side must be clear and free to "breath".

Heat (In my book), is the #1 killer of computer components. After time, heat can degrade the quality of your components and cause wear that would normally be averted by providing adequate air flow.

What temps are in your room where the comp is kept...I would try to lower those first...second...clear any air passages that your comp needs to vent...also look for dirty fans.

What are the specs of your computer?
