My computer just keeps rebooting....

I turn on my computer, it loads but it checks my disk, and restarts.

I came home, turn it on, it loads - but then it has to check a bad shutdown, then it checks it - then restarts...over and over and over...

Any ideas?

I am running Windows 2K.

I did that, but it doesn't do any good. It just happened now, and now while I was in windows.

I tried repairing it, but it don't work. I'll format my C:\ and re-install.

Before it goes into Windows- if it gets that far, try booting into safe mode and go from there. Also- if all else fails, try pulling out any cards (modems, etc.) that don't need to be there- make sure you unplug the computer first (you probablly knew that, but I it can't hurt to remind).

A friend of mine had the same problem. He flashed his bios &quot;with an updated version&quot; and ended up killing it -or so he thought

The comp would boot for a few seconds, then completely reboot on it's own.


He never told me what he did to fix it, but he said flashing the bios was what did it. In the long run it turns out replacing the board wasn't necessary.

Go to the bios setup ( i.e. press del when the systemboots up and the computer just finished checking your memory). Try to look for the automatic power monitor(can be of different name but same function) and if it is enable try disabling it and then ro-boot. If you need detailed explanation on this you can browse on the help menu of windows 95/98(press F8 after re-booting and choose safe mode, then click help, troubleshooting!)
