My computer randomly reboots after I play my games?

While I had my computer overclocked everything ran great, I never had any problems or over heating problems I just decided that I didnt need to over clock my cpu because the extra 15fps it gave me didnt really make a difference. I have my AMD Athlon 64 3700+ San Diego running at 2.61ghz, but recently I stopped overclocking my computer and just left my AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2.2ghz San Diego run on stock and now I am expierencing problems. After playing Counter-Strike:Source(the game I play) my computer reboots and I have no idea why. At first I thought maybe it was over heating for some odd reason, but it is running at 32c idle right now and never go above 42c load. I went into my bios and told it to load all the default settings and that is what I am using now, but it still rebooted after playing my game. I have no idea why this happens, anyone have any ideas?

maybe VIA chipset? i don't know. what i do know is that i have been "trying" to play Half Life 2 on my new rig and i can't seem to get it to play without freezing up at some point or another. i've turned the oc down on my video card (using PowerStrip) and am now turning the oc down on the cpu to see if it cures it....i think that IT DOES NOT have anything to do with it and MORE to do with the interaction of Half Life 2 and my mobo/vid card....just a thought. all other games run just fine.

I had random reboots also, until I adjusted the memory timings using cpuz, a free download. It lists timings for various fsb settings. I used the readings the program gave, and the reboots stopped. Mine was rebooting at anytime, very anoying.

Check to make sure all of your cables are secure and screwed in parts (i.e PSU, mobo, etc) are all tight. I had a PC about 5 years ago that did the same thing. I think it was a contact short or something related somewhere because once I removed all of the parts and reinstalled from scratch (hardware only) it went away.

I'd check the RAM suggestion from o1die first though....

I have cpuz and I have ran it, but I dont see where it says what ram timings I should use for certain fsb settings.

It doesn't. It simply reports the current settings. o1die is insane.

I had problems with counter-strike:source when I had my AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester overclocked too high. It was overclocked from 2.0ghz to 2.5ghz. I could play the game just fine(no overheating or anything), but about 20-30 minutes into the game it would just lock up, yet half the time it froze up I could still ctrl+alt+del out of it. I tried everything, and finally toned my overclock down to 2.35ghz, and I can run the game perfectly 24/7.

if you're only having the auto-reboot problem when you are playing games(mainly half-life2 related games) then it's got to be a cpu problem, since these games will take nearly 100% cpu resources, its a very demanding game.

I actually had the same problems when I added a gig of ram, PQI, I had to change my mem setting back to spd and it seemed like everything ran slower, then the restarts started happening. Just to make sure it wasnt a windows thing, i rebooted into linux. As the problem go worse linux would start to freeze as well. Then I booted into linux with memtest86+ took out the new module, rant it, and it passed. took out that module and replaced with the new one and it failed MULTIPLE times. The funny thing is, the module that isnt working right, is the one that reports itself correctly in cpuz lol. my other gig of pqi 3200 thinks its a 8 mb chip in cpuz, wierdnesss.
