Whenever i boot up, it stays at at the windows 2000 loading screen for 2 min.and then proceeds. it takes longer than my 300 mhz cyrix processor to load.i built the system myself in august. iit also has 512 mb, 80 gb hardrive(maxtor). thanks
Do you have an extra drive controllers that you're using? Sometimes windows tends to fvck around with those forever. I used to run SCSI and IDE together...and man did my PC boot a ton faster with the SCSI card out.
Do a google search for "bootvis". run it, it will diagnos your bootup and fix any probs.
Also, got to start - run - msconfig <enter>. Click the startup tab,and unclick any unecessary programs booting up (like AOL instant messenger or whatnot). Do it one program at a time incase you screw something up, and you know what screwed it up and can go back and fix it.
Type in "msconfig" without quotes obviously then go to the "startup" tab and get rid of all the sh!t that you don't need to load...Basically if you don't know what it is then uncheck it!! you won't ruin anything!!! then when you restart then check your taskbar and make sure that the programs that you want are there!!! if not then go back into msconfig and check the ones that you want to load...
Also run a malware/spyware remover and antivirus then restart....
an after thought....do any of you with problems run a LAN???? windows searches for DHCP at startup and that slow it down...try manually assigning IP and DNS lookups and it will speed up
