My CPU gets COOLER the more I run it...weird?

At first when I got my 1000mhz tbird (oc'd to 1220mhz) it would run at about 45-46C full load. I left RC5 on for almost 2 days straight and it's now down to about 43C-44C full load, what's going on? Does the CPU actually take in heat alot better when it's burned in? I thought that was a bunch of BS but maybe it's true...someone enlighten me..

The most likely explanation is that your heatsink is now better seated, thus giving better contact with the processor and lower temps. A rather common occurance from what I understand.

You have got to figure on A lot of expantion/contraction in metals when heated/cooled. If you are using Satan's bubble gum (thermal pad) overtime the spring tention and heat will allow it to seat better....not magic really ....but what is?

If you're using the default pad, its a PCTC pad. IT phase-changes at 58C, so chances are, your temp readings are some 12-14C too low, and it caused hte pAD to phase-change.

Once it phase-changes, the it fills in microgaps resulting in a better heatsink-cpu connection.

That doesn't make any sense then... unless the heatsink clip is flattening AS better now(the way Arctic Silver is, this is very unlikely).

Yea, it IS weird. My idle temp is getting even lower now too...I can run RC5 over night and it's only at 44C when I wake up (used to be 46-47C)

Are your room temperatures the same?

I dunno..my room temp doesn't fluxuate or anything..it's at about 70F
right now I'm guessing..
