My Creative ZEN 40GB dilema!

hey ppl

the dilema is the following. Since my best friend got for his birthday 2 Creative ZENs 40GB mp3 players now he wants to sell one of them. I am willing to buy it since I kinda like those things and they are pretty good. He offers me a great price of 250 EUR. However, I am not quite sure whether I shall get one of these since some one told me they are not plug and play and they take ages to get uploaded throuth USB 1.1 (the one I have).

Do they really need the special Creative software? Even under XP?

is this the new Zen Xtra 40 gig or the older one?

the new on is USB2, i have it, you need the creative software but it works perferctly fine and is easy as sh!t to use,

250 euro? whats that in $$ bcause you can get the 40gb zen xtra here for like 200$

Any 40GB mp3 player will take forever to load over usb 1.1 When I bought an mp3 player, I also got a usb 2.0 card for around $10, and now I get high speed transfers.

I really need to know is it plug and play or not cuz most of the time I am not gonna use it on my own PC. I am gonna use it as a USB stick to transfer data between my home PC and the one at work, where I don't have the admin privileges. And that is why I am guessing that the software could not be installed there

well I checked a few online shops and indeed the lowest price is this one and including posting expences it is even more. Lower than 250 EUR u cannot go

you can get it in the us for 225 shipped, and im sure its not gonna cost 100$ to send it to europe someplace

just have someone here help you out


and damn electronics are overprices over there

get the latest drivers. my son got this one, with the drivers that were on the CD transfer was painfully slow, after updating the drivers, transfer has been decent.

Anubis actually said in the second post of this thread that it isn't plug and play; you need the Creative software. I have a Zen Touch 20GB and it also requires the software. I agree that it is very easy to use, but if you can't instiall it on your work computer, you are outta luck.

I had the newer zen 30 gig and even with xp it required the software to make it work.

all they need is just a tiny driver... then get redchair softwares zenexplorer

i love mine
use it as a mobile HD as well as a MP3 player..
