My wife got a call from preschool today: our daughter (3 years old) is bleeding, they are putting ice and coagulant cream on - please come over. My wife rushes over there. She finds our daughter with 2 big bloody scratches, with one starting almost from the eye across the cheek.
They do not know how it happened, because the primary teacher left for the break, and the substitute wouldn't see an elephant if it walked into the room. They told us some girl did it ('it happens sometimes, sorry'), but our daughter told us it was a new boy that came in today. She was reading a book when he came over and tried to snatch the book away from her. She wouldn't let go (it's her own book she brought in that morning), and so he scratched her face to blood.
What pisses me off is that they absolutely do not want to take responsibility for it. They are trying to do damage control ('yes, it happens, blah-blah') when the main issue is that kids were unsupervised! I am not into bullshit suits and stuff, but I want to make clear to them that if this happens again, there will be consequences.
What are my options here? I already took photos of the bruises on her face.
Thanks.
Cliffs:
- teacher left for break
- substitute is a blind bat
- kids are unsupervised
- my daughter gets bloody scratches on the face from a new kid
- I am outraged :|
