Might be a stupid question... but with these LCDs getting bigger and bigger and the screen res getting higher and higher... won't you be kinda screwed if your games don't support the 1920x1200 native resolution of that 2405 for example? Or even if they support it... would you be able to get acceptable FPS without having some $450+ super video card? That seems like the main reason why a lot of people stick with CRTs for gaming... resolution flexibility.

Good question.

I think you're screwed if the game software, video card and physical LCD do not support the resolution.

anybody know if the 2405 will use half the screenspace (with borders)? For example if you played a game at 1280x1024? (which would be like playing on 17 inch lcd which isn't bad). that way you don't get pixelation

You can set the 2005 for 1:1 so you just use as many pixels as you feed it.

Most newer quality LCDs (within the last 18 months or so) scale down very well. The 16" LCD on my DTR runs native at UXGA (1600x1200), but actually quite well at lower resolutions.

The Dell LCDs I have first hand experience with (the 2001FP and the 1903FP) all scale fairly nicely as well.

Let me know if u need hosting space j/k

I haven't picked it up yet and I have to ship out my last 2001FP first. Our place is getting cramped with boxes everywhere, hard drives, monitors, keyboards, magazines, video cards, and more crap. I'm like the person with the 60 cats but replace that with computer gear.

Thats awesome man!! I just got my 2005 a few weeks ago and now it is sitting next to my 21" CRT and my now-puny 15" Sony LCD. I played a few min of Resident Evil 0 on it (Gamecube via RCA) and it looked OK. UT 2004, HL 2, CS:S, and Morrowind all look AWESOME on it. now I just need two 2001FP's to go on either side of it...

It's here but before I can hook it up gotta install my Ti4200.

Might as well upgrade the RAM while I'm there as well.

Hey Rossman, good deal. Can you do us a really big favor? Can you take a fairly close up pic showing the full screen at it's native res and at a lower res to see how well it scales down? I've seen the posts saying they scale well but I think it'd be cool to see exactly what the difference will be.

My 15" NEC 1545V's native is 1024x768 but looks mighty blurry at 800x600 for example. BTW thanks to hot deals forum for a great deal on that 1545 iI got it foir only $188 a couple of years ago.

I use a ti4200, it's all I need for rendering, I hardly play the latest games anymore but it's not a slouch in the game dept. either for the aging directx8 card that it is.

I got my 2005FPW yesterday...still trying to decide if it's worth $500 or not. It's not as easy on my eyes as I was expecting. For one thing, it's SO BRIGHT. I have the brightness/contrast set at 40 right now and that still kinda bothers me. It just seems like other LCDs that I've looked at are "softer" on my eyes. It's hard to describe. I would compare looking at other LCDs to looking at a page in a book, and looking at this feels more like looking into a flashlight (or my old CRT).

Is there some difference between this and other LCDs that I'm not aware of?

Awesome, I hopped on the same deal, but I got the 2001FP instead. Didn't want to deal with the funky resolution.

It is a very nice monitor.

Yeah, could you also post lower res games without it being scaled? (When the unused space is just black).

People also say they can have two browser open side by side. Pics of this too please?
