I'm pretty pleased with mine, it isn't perfect (neither was my 2005FPW), but for the price I'm very pleased with it.

For your comparative analysis, what will you comparing it to?

I will be comparing the Dell to my NEC20WGX2 20" and a Samsung SM-215TW 21", for overall gaming/daily usage & multimedia.
I hope to include a variety of games, DVD playback, Color & Contrasts etc.

From having seen the NEC20WGX2, I imagine that the 2407WFP will probably score a little lower in the picture quality dept, as it just doesn't have that high contrast glossy screen that the 20WGX2 has. It makes up for it in size and resolution vs. price though, and I was really wanting a bigger screen than a 20". I was really hoping that NEC would have come out with a 24" version by now, although it would be excessively expensive.

Nice, I just recived mine today too. I'm actually posting with it in portrait (document) mode right now. So far this monitor is a real beauty. And you can't beat it for ~25% off original price; FatWallet FTW

I just got mine last week. Needless to say I was totally blown away. I knew I was going to get a quality screen since I already owned a 2005fpw and it was of superb quality. I was a little worried though because I had read of the horror stories with the first couple of revisions. Luckily I recieved an A03 model and all of the banding problems have been resolved. I do think however that the component input quality was subpar. I tried to play gears of war with the 360 and it looked nowhere near as crisp and clear as on my 42 inch hitachi plasma in 1080i or 26 inch panasonic lcd in 720p. Oh well, I can live with that since I bought this monitor for pc gaming, and boy does it excel in that!! Although I only have a single x1900xt I get extremely playable frames in every game. I play a lot of oblivion(i do get a little chop in some intense outdoor scenes(mind you I play with HDR no AA)), FEAR (completely owned by the X1900), COD2(again completely owned). Hopefully you have enough horsepower to drive this enormous monitor, or maybe you dont game? Bottomline you're in for a breath taking experience. Oh and the card reader on the side is definately a major bonus. This monitor was single handely my best pc purchase this year.

completely unrelated: My god son came over my house for the first time today. Doesnt he look like he's having a blast!!

You are right in saying that, first thing I noticed is the image quality is far superior with the NEC, and especially in gaming. However the 24" I love for desktop usage & space, also the extra inputs you get with the Dell over none with the NEC (unless u get the NEC WGMX2). Another thing I noticed is the Movie / DVD playback is far superior with the Dell 24". I love both monitors, both are not without flaws though. Take into consideration that movie playback is not a strong point for the NEC, also the NEC is a S-IPS panel (custom made my Phillips LG for NEC) and the Dell is a S-PVA (Samsung developed Panel).
The Dell 24 has must more of a multimedia appeal to me, as opposed to the NEC for my gaming.
But saying that.. i can't help but play World of Warcraft on a 24"

yup I definately have an AO3. I'm really not sure what the difference is. As far as I know, most of the "stuff" needing to be fixed was already addressed in AO2. I wouldn't sweat it

Regarding the Dell 2407 Rev.A03. This new revision is said to fix the following:

Vertical colour banding at any frequencies fixed
Shadowing fixed
Blurring fixed
Issue regarding HDCP via DVI been fixed now supporting full 1080i/p
Component low resolution been fixed

Regarding NEC
Nec is to release their new 23" monitor based on their popular S-IPS 20WGX2 / 20WGMX2 product line.
Along with that a product refresh of existing models. These models will be assigned a suffex of "Pro". e.g 20WGX2Pro. Link

So the 2407 does support 1080P HDCP, but only in the A03 revision?

If so, thats great! That has been mainly what was holding me back from this monitor.

What are my chances of getting one? Is there anyway I could tell from the box and possibly refuse to take it if it isnt an AO3?

Only on DVI I believe. I've heard of people having problems with their 360's not being scaled properly when using VGA cable at 1080P. It forces the resolution to 1920x1200 instead of 1080P and causes weird vertical stretching. Component only supports up to 1080i.

I wanted to get one in my bedroom for my PC and 360 but this issue has kind of turned me off. Not sure what to do because it still seems to be the best choice for the money. There is a BenQ 24 but that one doesn't have any scaling available at all (it stretches everything to the screen). This is why I went looking for the Westinghouse 37'' but its impossible to find in Canada and apparently discontinued! So, now I'm left back to considering the Dell.

I've had my 2407 for about a month, and I'm loving it. And yes Cabages, there's a sticker on the box with the revision number.

I hooked up my 360 through the component input, needless to say I was unimpressed with the video quality. It could have been due to stretching though, I didnt look into it for more than about 2.5 minutes.

I'm looking forward to how you feel the 20WGX2 and 2407 compare to the 215TW as well.
