Worth a shot asking for Florida now, since they are moving people anyway.
Good luck!

dude, the guy is moving away from ~Kansas. I think he currently has it worse than you.
Lol, I dunno. Florida is pretty crappy.
That would be different if I was in the Orlando area, but I'm stuck in a middle of a white trash city with no diversity near a humid, bug infested swamp.
Im sure florida accounts for the majority of insect species in the US. I'm actually afraid of opening my front door at night, not knowing what exotic weird bug will fly in. But that has been happening less due to winter coming
I wished that would happened to me. Anywhere > Central Florida
I've been in KC for 5+ years now and I'm not that impressed by it. If my company was moving me out to Denver, I don't think I would mind too much.
Visiting friends and family would change from a 2 hour drive to a 12 hour drive though. :\
Just got done with my 1 on 1. My position as a whole is being eliminated, so there is no option for me to move to Denver unless I apply for a completely new/different position. The move is happening roughly at the end of June 2011, so I have lots of time. This seems like a sign to move to Florida with her. I mean, I'm getting two months of severance and then a lump sum after that.
Should I be thinking of anything else?
There's tons of places much worse than Central Florida. Barring the heat, which doens't matter since everywhere is ACed, there's nothing wrong with there. Atleast, Compared to say Alabama or Missouri (two worst places I've been).
Florida is about the last place I'd think a job-seeker would want to move. That state sucks unless you are ...well actually I think it sucks no matter who you are.
Why are they relocating?
This office is too small and the "talent selection in the area isn't ideal."
Just had a "Development Team Meeting" where my bosses bosses boss came and let my department know that they are moving the whole thing to Denver (from ~Kansas City). They are doing 1 on 1's with everyone this afternoon to discuss options. Good thing I have absolutely no attachment to Kansas.
Just wanted to vent slightly. Sorry.

Sounds like you hit the jackpot!
You were planning on moving right about that time anyway, but now you get 2 months of severance + lump sum, when originally you were just gonna up and leave. Plus now you can collect unemployment while you are chilling on the beach down in Florida.
