thank you guys for the kind replies...they mean a lot to me. today at around 4-5PM is his time. im wishing and hoping that time will just slowly go by today, but i dont want to see him be like this any longer, no matter how much i want him to stay alive...

just an update in case anyone wanted to know: this morning, he didnt even want to get up. yesterday, we somehow forced him up to go to the bathroom, but today he is resisting. we also noticed that his back right paw drags across the floor. my brother said it was called a foot drop or something? it was absolutely painful to watch.

My sympathies...we had to put down my yellow lab last year after a tough fight with Cancer.....
And I have a 10 yr old Siberian Husky that is probably not going to be around much longer...

You're doing the right thing secretanchitman. It's hard to watch an animal you love suffer. Caesar will be in a better place.

if it helps, think of it this way; animals don't have a concept of death, their brains can't concieve it like we do. so while it hurts us immensely, you're actually making him happier on his way out, which is the best way any of us could hope to go...

That's just devastating.

Sounds like he gave you a good haul. 11.5 years is a good run for a German Shepard.

My girlfriend's family had to put theirs down earlier this year. It really is just like a parting family.

You have our deepest sympathies. Time to start remembering all the good times.

im really sorry to hear of your loss. we had to put down our shepherd/husky mix after he had what we think was a stroke. he was 12. he looked so young and was incredibly healthy. we were with him one weekend and then the next, he had a stroke and had to be put down a day later. at first, the vet thought he was going to be fine, but i think that when he was alone in the vet's office he suffered from major anxiety (he needs one of us around) and that made things worse. i dunno; the whole ordeal was pretty rough

guys, does it feel normal to not really be able to concentrate on anything today but him? i feel so heartbroken...and completely devastated.

another update...possibly my last one: when i came home from school just now, my mom told me that he has stayed in the same spot since the morning. he refuses water/food now. we arent even going to make him get up. we are just waiting for my brothers wife and my dad to come home now, which will be anytime within the hour. we will then take him to be euthanized...:'(

god, i know he shouldnt have to live like this...but why him? he doesnt deserve cancer...
