Have you ever played a FPS on it?

If so, how is the response time?

I looked it up and noticed that it is 6ms..but if you have ever played an FPS game competitively or the same FPS for a very long time and then play on an LCD you WILL notice lag.

I don't think I've ever played on a 6ms LCD with an FPS but do you notice any lag?

This is also probably more commonly known as ghosting...a big problem with older LCD's and gamers.

#1. Get OLED.
#2. Come back.

WTF? Are you being serious? You mean a whole 11" of OLED for $1700+ (And at 11", it ain't impressive)? Or 30" of OLED in 2009 (most likely with a $10,000 price tag)?

OLED is ridiculous right now...wait till the market catches up and of course like all technology in 3-5 years it will be a standard and cost just as much as a standard LCD does...

LCD is gargabe anyway...DLP (right now anyway) is the only way to go. Light passing through liquid (LCD) is always going to be slower then light reflected off mirrors (DLP)

end of story

Hey, I'm not the one who brought up the ridiculous OLED tech into this thread. I agree with you, it is ridiculous to even bring it up. OLED is waaaayyy out there as far as an affordable alternate to LCD or CRT. You'll have to wait a few years before you can even THINK about getting one (an affordable one).

I know...I didn't direct that comment toward you but more toward the guy that you quoted and to the general viewing audience

LCD's can have a nice picture just as DLP's and plasmas but you will almost always see ghosting/lag...it's just my personal perference...I can't stand them. It makes me feel like it's cheap

I wouldn't exactly call an LCD monitor a "gaming" monitor either

Yup, then I would be impressed.

I could not agree with you more, this was the best monitor decision I ever made. ALTHOUGH..I did have some issues with my eyes and had to go see a doctor. Turns out, it was the beta drivers from nvidia with my 8800gtx not working right with this LCD, when back to old drivers and my eyes returned. Anyways, this thing is amazing. here is a pic of my setup before the comp box moved in about 12 hours later.

I do not knwo what speakers you have, but I recomend the BX5a's, its the crispest sound around. Pro audio in gaming for the win.

My monitor setup

Thats the Samsung 244t next to it.

That looks really well mate. Tidy, Functional, Minimal - pretty much bang on.

Are web pages still easy to read with it hanging on the wall?

Turn the contrast and brightness down until your eyes don't hurt. You shouldn't have to sit that far away from it.

I'm very tempted to get a 40" or 46" TV and use it as a monitor. A week ago I bought a Samsung LE40M86BDX LCD TV. I now use it as a TV. I also bought the Samsung Auto Wall Mount to go with it.
Yesterday, just for the fun of it I plugged the TV into my computer using the HDMI cable and played a bit of Crysis on it. I'm completely sold.
Not only that due to specific TV technologies like DNIe and such the image quality is waaay superior than the one provided by the 30" 3007WFP-HC Dell I use, but because of the lower resolution (1920x1080) I was able to play on DX10 rendering with all settings on Very High. Impressive.

So; what do you guys think? Sell the Dell and buy a big screen TV?

My viewing distance has increased to 3 1/2 feet and IMHO it is PERFECT!!! I can still read all the text on the web without straining. I wish I would have mounted it about 3 inches lower, but mounted at an angle compensates.

I like the big screen monitors, however have always thought 30" screen were spoiled with the high resolution. 1080p looks to be a much better readable text from 3 feet.

Lucky you, my 37" plasma only does 720p.

Thanks for all the comments you guys. I've really been enjoying it, and I'm glad I didn't compromise by getting a 24" or something like that. This is the best computer upgrade I've ever made.

I use a Thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme with a Scythe Slipstream fan @ 1000RPM.
