This sentence would still sound like a word-salad, even in the "voice" of Stephen Hawking, or the Geico caveman.

Click your forum handle/nickname top right corner next to inbox and alerts.
Click on "Preferences"
Set "style"

That was the first thing I did when it came back up. Click your username in the top right, then preferences on the left, then change your style.

Or at the bottom right of each page, just above the black "Links, Topics, Follow" block is the Style Chooser. Click on it and pick the one you want.

WTF happened here? When the forums came back from the down time there were a bunch of new styles available. A couple were based on the UIX2 styles and were marginally less awful than this. Now they're gone.
