Many places in Texas have people living below poverty. Texas as a whole is not booming at all.

Ummm...

Texas has 9 out of the top 25 cities economy wise...

http://www.forbes.com/sites/stevesc...leads-texas-heavy-list-of-best-u-s-economies/

Well over 50% of the states population lives close to those cites. I'd say "as a whole" Texas is doing ok. Many people living out of the major cities are doing it because they chose to. It's no different than other rural areas.

I sometimes wonder how you even got by being so clueless in Florida.

Sorry you are mad.

Palm Beach and many other places in the country have homeowner associations where new residents are approved by that association.

It's why you don't see those with 'new money' in many places where they could afford to buy into.

I live more than somewhat close, Manalapan and the ocean is about a 5 min car ride.

My house was purchased for $256k, like many places here everything is way down. It' should slowly get back to $175k (the pre-boom) pricing, but I don't plan to live here forever; I will eventually rent this place out and move further east.

Haha... I don't know what I was thinking when I agreed to a 1 year stint working out of Ft. Lauderdale. I already knew I didn't like Florida, but I didn't realize how much. Southeast Florida is by far the worst part. Full of people trying to put on a front while living miserable lives trying to keep up with the Jones's. Mix that in with ultra rich part-time residents who don't give a shit about their community outside their gates. It is a remarkably shitty place to live.

You can have it and your 100k house (that you owe quarter of a million on to paint an even prettier picture of your finances). I just find it really entertaining that in the same breath you are mentioning your ghetto house, you are trying to put down others for living in Texas.

There is nothing wrong with enjoying where you live (regardless of my opinion of it), but your need to belittle others to try to make yourself feel better is laughable. You are a mountain of insecurity. But keep rocking your facade, it is very entertaining.

while i'm not saying you are wrong or anything, pulling a 3 year old article to make a point doesn't seem like the best course of action to try and prove a point.

You do realize many of the biggest Mansions in the entire country (and most expensive) are in Southeast Florida. Also most of the world's exotic cars are sold in Miami.

I have no problem with my home's current value. You seem to forget I was the one that volunteered that information. It's still cheaper to own it than rent is here, plus the tax write off makes it very cheap. The house is hardly ghetto.

You didn't like Florida because you couldn't afford it. We all know about your beater M3.

Delray Beach was voted best small city to live...

I guess you are the Knight of Texas now.

City performance is not a good indication of quality of living. Texas does have a high standard of living, but for the most it a landlocked state with low cost housing.

Like I have mentioned they like to dictate what their people can and cannot do with their finances like HELOC/Equity Lines.

There is a lot of poverty in Texas though and a lot of immigration issues.

We have that in Florida, but we also have great beaches and major things you don't see everywhere.

Yes, that's the ironic thing. You mention your ghetto 100k home that is close to multi million dollar mansions and then try to put down 150k Texas homes (which gets you a decent home in a lot of Texas). I find it hilarious that you don't even realize how ridiculous that is.

You got me...I couldn't afford it...that is why I left. I'm so jelly.

I don't know if FireTrak is still monitoring this thread but I understand totally. I have a brother in law living in Menlo Park working for Google. Yeah, he makes a buttload of money but it seems to be flowing out the door pretty quickly. Yes, he is just now realizing his teen kids are accustomed to living the good life and don't know a lick about saving or living within means but that's on him and his wife. But still living in that area means you need to be making bank if you don't want to live paycheck to paycheck. I sometime wonder how the person at starbucks gets by living in those areas. Probably commutes or lives with others sharing fixed rents I suppose.

For me I am doing well by my community standards here in NC where we can afford for me to be the sole income provider. However I understand completely FireTrak wanting to stay in a particular location for schools. I have twins who are only two but my wife is becoming concerned that our K-6 school in our area is not the greatest and wonders if we should move to a better school area.

My advice is to see where you can pare down the gimmes that are easiest to give up or position yourself better.

One of the biggest areas is to see how much you are spending on take out or going out to eat. With kids that may be already done. The other thing is cable. How much do you spend per month or year on it? Do you really need or use it?

$2K. Wow. If I allocated that for my mortgage I think I'd be paid off in seven more years. Hmmm...I might just do that...

A lot of school districts are allowing you to petition to be allowed to go to another school. You would have to provide the transportation, but in many places it's becoming an option.

The median home value in Texas is $136k and the median value of a home being listed is $215k

You can buy a nice home here for $150k too

All of which is more than the value of your home. That is great that you enjoy your home, but Stop trying to shit on the people who live in Texas. You're no special snowflake.

It's clear again you really, I mean REALLY; never have a clue in what you are talking about and just go raging into my posts.

Texas is taking flack because it's home values are rising beyond what the standard of living really supports, there are quite a few news stories (not that you probably read anything but Fox news) explaining that.

If you are going to Champion a state, at least know some facts first.

I believe my job is done here. I'm not championing a state (I have zero interest in Texas), I'm just laughing at you trying to put down people who live there given the financial mess you actively worked yourself into. But keep hating on Texas and the people in this thread who live there...I know it soothes your insecurities.

No sympathy from me. I moved 1,000 miles to a lower cost of living environment. This was especially needed since I was paying my own way through college and not getting/expecting assistance from mommy and daddy.

Simply move. The short term will be tough, but the long run should be better.

yep

You keep bringing up a financial mess that does not exist.

My foreclosure trial was not of my own doing and that is ending now and basically it's going to be as if it never happened and my payment is about 50% less.

Seems you have the insecurities though.

I should be insecure about the fact that I keep responding to you in this thread.

I've responded to this exact inquiry in other threads, so I'm not going to bother going over it again. I actually would feel bad for your situation and actually think you are being selfless in providing for your "fiancé's" family, but you are such a tremendously insecure ass on this forum who continually attempts to belittle people, it is really hard to have any sympathy.

Keep on being Alke...it is sadly amusing.

I'd look up some articles and numbers to prove you wrong, but a few folks have already taken care of that.

Looking forward to your next reply.

Texas is ranked 46/50 states for poverty. I'll give Texas credit for having some of the nicest people in the Union but holy crap does that state have problems.
