Hmm, no alcohol or drugs involved, but no mention of whether or not she was on her cellphone.
So now the bigger question is, was it an honest mistake or was it due to negligence?
Thank you all for kind words. If anyone has information on the accident please contact
Santa Fe Springs office at (562) 868-0503 as it says in the article.
It's tough but we're trying our best to get through this and I thank every one of you on behalf of my mother and sisters.

One time I was in a buddy's car on the way to tahoe, his car hit a pretty big stone, and his front left tire went bust. He stopped on the side of the freeway wanting to put on the spare tire, however a CHP came and he forbade us to change the tire there, he then escorted us until the next freeway exit.

What if exits are 5 miles or so apart? I was thinking the same as you until I kind of thought about that aspect of it. I guess you could drive slowly on the shoulder or something. There are also the u-turn sections that police sit in on some expressways around here that I'd probably try to head into (the cops probably would not like this, but chances of being hit are drastically lower I'd think).

How the heck did the other driver swerve into the shoulder? When I see a car on the shoulder I usually begin to move in the opposite direction. Criminally Negligent Homicide anyone?

would have been better to ruin a rim driving on it a way than have this happen though.
