liquid cooling is only good for the extreme o/cer, otherwise it is a hassle and a waste of $$$

plextor sata dvd-rw is, imho a waste also. it is not like the plextors are even made by plextor and you are paying a premium just because of the sata connection. get a benq or nec, have the same or better quality and save $$$$

but i thought ide devices were being phased out by intel.Thats why the sata model is there.
And i do plan on OCing. And if intel's stock heatsink design doesn't change,it might be a good deal.Look at it this way.A zalman cnps 9500 costs $60.Add $70 to that u get a good liquid cooling setup for ur cpu.
Thats what i had in mind.Any other suggestions.I'm open cause,i don't want to regret buyin something later.Any suggestions on a better dvd/rw drive, please?

Intel is getting rid of PATA support on the 965 chipset, only SATA controllers there. You are purchasing a 975 chipset based board though so you shouldn't have problems.

IMO wait for conroe's release and see how the 965 boards perform, some may have features you want over the 975, or wait and see what other manufacturers have for 975 conroe support.

thanks for that,big-shooter.Anyway by august all the prices would have settled down. But if 965 doesn't have PATA,i can't play games.
Maybe by then, more manufactures will bring out sata dvd/rw drives.
Anything else, anyone would like to comment on.

you might want to get rid of 19" and get a better (something above 19") because the 19s' maximum resolutions are the exactly same as 17s at 1280x1024. so, 20.1s or above will give you a bigger resolution.

just my $.02.

The chipset doesn't support PATA, but mobo manufacturers can still add on a PATA controller. I think most makers will do this. I personally don't want anything old on my next computer such as com/serial, parallel, ps2 ports, pci slots, or PATA IDE ports.

I also agree on the monitor. Although the 19" will be slightly cheaper, I would ditch the water cooling and get a bigger monitor. Depending on how often you want to upgrade your vid card though, you may want to stick with a 20" widescreen. 1680x1050 should be doable for most future games on you 1900xt for the forseeable future.

the 19 inch one i plan to buy has the max res of 1440x900.The cheapest qidescreen 20.1 inch monitor which gives 1680x1050 is again viewsonic. But it has been plauged with dvi faults. And thats the reason i'm not getting that. The benq widescreen has por quality and response time.
I'll consider ditching the water cooling though.

Is the problematic monitor you're talking about the VX2025WM? If so, I haven't heard of any problems with its DVI interface.

Also, might I recommend going with the ST56ZF instead of the 650W Silverstone? The ST56ZF will have more than enough power even if you get a 2nd X1900XT.

EDIT: You want to take a full tower to LAN parties?

@howard-i got another question. How much of a space difference is there between a mid-twoer and full tower? The thermaltake armor one i was plannin on buying is made of light aluminum. And the side-panel is will let me show-off whats inside.
Is cooling better in a full tower(when compared to a mid-tower)?And is installing the mobo any easier?
As for the monitor. Most of the newegg reviews complain about a faulty dvi connector
