This will be my first time building a pc. I have a budget of about $800. I need windows but already have a monitor, k/m. My current build would cost me about $850. So it is a little over budget but that is fine.

I would like my build to run most games in High/Ultra settings. I also want to be able to upgrade it in the future when I get more money. My monitor is 1920x1080. Will all these parts be compatible with each other?
Would downgrading from an i5-2400 to a i3-2100 be worth it? That would let me get a 6950 2GB from Amazon. So I can get i5-2400 with the 6870 or i3-2100 with the 6950. Which would be better for gaming?
By the way, the 6950 is apparently the one that cannot have the shaders unlocked.
