I'd like to thank everyone here for their posts and replies as I have been able to make my first Raid setup..

I have had a Raid able mobo for about 7+ years and have only used it as a IDE controller .. I have three or four setsof HDDs that I could have raided easy and makes me think now what a waist of hardware as I just now made my array..

I raided two WD 1TB Blacks as I did not want to buy anther WD SE16 500

I am amazed at the how much faster WinXP posts now..
It takes about 1+ for Post beep to complete load..

Here are some links to bench marks

I was always impressed with how much faster RAID felt, way way back in the day I had an Adaptec 2400A with 3 120GB drives (alot at the time) and it flew when I was doing editing. My new build coming up soon will have a RAID setup.

Just make sure that you have your backups scheduled more frequently because hard drive failure does increase with a RAID setup.

I was thinking someone should sell a raid setup for running a OS

Something like 4 small fast HDDs that add up to 100 gigs total with a raid card included so the OS drive doesnt eat 4 Sata ports..

Fit the whole 4 drive unit into a DVD drive space...

All for $100 more than a super fast HDD

I guess the down side is you have 4x the change the drive fails

I am guessing the real future is in solid sate but would be cool to fast SATA drive in the mean time..

That's really good speed. My 1TB Caviar Black by itself only hits about 110MB/sec at highest, and I thought that was fast.

The simultaneous-multiple I/O storage is superior, just look at the we have dual/triple channel memory, and also parallel processors. So RAID with 4x OS drive would definitely be great, the only problem is the mechanical failure since HDD is one of the few things in the computer that still spins. Multiple SSD in a RAID fashion would definitely be the efuture.
