So, minesweeper and solitaire specialist?

LOL! I wish! More like Tivoli, Formula, OpenView, bleh! Well, an occasional glimpse at ATOT helps!

See, I don't see myself necessarily getting tired. I'm sitting at a computer. Granted if I was at home, lying down in a bed...then of course. But I got a mountain Dew, and I got my music on, so I'm alright.

But then again...this is my FIRST night. I'm more worried after I've been doing this for a few days....Holy Sleep Schedules Batman!!!! I'm gonna be "off". Like Pacino in "Insomnia."

Night shift here also, doing remote alarm survelience also. Getting into a pattern of sleep pretty much sucks. Sometimes when I get home, I go to sleep, other times I wait till 5 or 6 PM and have to get up at 11PM. Having 2 little kids don't help much either. Got some of those room darkening blinds couple weeks ago, that seemed to help out a bit.

Getting tired yet? Usually around 4:30 to 5:00 is the worst as far as getting sleepy for me. Sitting in front of a monitor seems to make it worse....I have to get up and walk around to get revived.

Here is my advice for what it is worth.
A lot of people have a very hard time adjusting to night shift, to make it easier do not treat your days off different than work days. Sleep the same time, eat at the same time. It really screws your system to try and live normal hours on your rest days all the while living the night shift. Get some really good reading material to help keep from falling asleep on the job.

Yeah, I'm hoping I can find that fine line on my days off to sorta sleep in the day, but not EXACTLY the same as a work schedule. I dunno. It'll be tough.

I dunno, not much going on right now. Just sucking down Mountain Dew like there's no tomorrow

I never had a problem with night shift.
Although eventually it did suck to be on an opposite schedual as everyone else.
But at the same time, it feels rather natural.

Hopefully you don't have a family and can stay on the night time sched. I have been working 7PM to 7AM for 7 years in the semiconductor field and it wears on you after awhile. The comment about the eating is very important to follow if you want to stay healthy. Alot of people in this field that have been on nights a long time end up with some sort of health problem. Me I've gained 35lbs working nights. The kids alwasy want me to eat with them, then you get hungry at work.. It's a never ending battle.

Sleeping is another story. I was told after not being able to sleep much (many years ago) do to outside noise, that the static from the tv at a higher than normal volume (enough to drown out the other sounds) will help you deep sleep and make you feel more refreshed when you wake up. It took me a few days to get used to it but since then my sleep has been great.

See, I hate the night shift. I'm a morning person. I like to wake up at around 5:30am or so.

I'm on a self imposed (afflicted?) night shift these days. I have trouble getting to sleep at night, and I end up staying up until 6 or 7 in the morning, and sleeping all day until like 2 or 3. I'm also finding it harder and harder to wake up and stay awake when I do get up. It is really beginning to get to me. I put my time to good use though... I'm working on some code right now.
