As long as the water level in the res is above the pump you will be fine. Ian's resevior is plenty tall enough and you can run the fill tube higher.

Thanks for the tip.

I was wondering if that would be the case, yet somehow talked myself into believing it was dumb logic, lol.

Would it matter if the res was mounted in the spot pictured, then the tubing was run through one of the bottom wire management holes below the motherboard and then up into a 90 elbow on top of the pump? That's pretty much what it's looking like in my head right now.

Get the res as high/ pump low as possible you should be ok. I would avoid the elbow if you can, having the tube make a radius is always better. Depending on the tube you use that is the one that is most likely to collapse from the suction of the pump but the hydraulics of that res rad setup, distance and elevation will be fine. You may do some funny dances to get the loop full first time out, a fill tube that you can uncoil and bring up over the case and a bleeder line elsewhere would make life easy.

A little more work today. Cried a few big man-tears and picked up the drill and slowly pointed it towards my $400 baby.

Pumps are mounted and the Iandh clamps are in. The clamps look a bit crooked in the pic, but that's because I drilled holes with a little wiggle room to make adjustments. They probably just shook a little loose moving the case around as I haven't tightened them down yet.

Forgive the dirty case. It got a lil dusty during the work today.

The soft bay mounts for the EK top worked pretty well to mount the DDC's. Pretty happy with how everything turned out

Won't bolting the pumps to the bottom of the case cause quite a bit of vibration and noise?

Aigo,

pic might have to wait till tomorrow.. terrible weather here and I'm just using the last of the battery in the laptop.

Won't bolting the pumps to the bottom of the case cause quite a bit of vibration and noise?

Those mounts don't have screws that go all the way through them. It may appear like it, but the screw that goes into the bottom is completely decoupled from the screw that holds down the pumps.

Heh, no worries.

Will get the pic tomorrow. Been without internet for the better part of 2 days and power was out for a bit. God bless the Midwest.

Nothing compared to all those poor people in Joplin, MO though.

You can leave the pics up, it's fine. Someday somebody might stumble on this thread and get some answers they need

Are you talking about the heatsinks though? When you originally asked for the pic I assumed it was because of the thread at XS about stuffing wires between the pumps.

From what I understood, the Koolance heatsinks fit if you shave the curled up part off of the metal brackets, but the Swiftech heatsinks wouldn't fit in dual setups unless you actually cut the heatsinks themselves down.

If this build log suddenly ends, you can assume I fell victim to the tornado heading this way and the baseball sized hail falling about 1/2 mile from my house, lol.

start stacking a bunch of 38mm fans in the counter direction and see if u can kill the tornado!!!

j/k

serious note .. good luck bro.. i hope nothing bad happens to ya.

and yeah he did trim the sides off...
I asked him cuz its a cool mod.. i may try it out if i get sick of my RP-402X

However if u ask anyone who has one, and has fully bleed it, its not a bad bay res.
Its fairly quiet... it does its job well, and it looks hella nice.

Well I survived. Internet and electric got owned though.

Have to finish converting an old PC into working condition for the gf the next few days and then hopefully I can get back to my build. ( I wish she would read this so she could see me say "SEE HONEY, you DO need the accidentally/clumsily/not paying attention/WTF I dropped it/ etc. protection for laptops!" )

Anyways, back on topic.

I loved those bay res when they came out. I mean I was suuuuuper pissed that they came out, lol. I think they hit XS for preview/review a week after I bought the Iandh. Nothing against the Iandh, but those Koolance ones are schmexy. I also like the new Alphacool Cape Fuzion as well. Until I ran into budget issues, I was eyeballing a FrozenQ for the bling factor, but chose against it after reading a lot of horror stories about defects. I also liked the Iandh for the fact that I didn't have to pay extra for more ports. Oh well, always room to throw money at the addiction down the road

Got back to work today after the GF's computer is back up and running.

Nothing worth taking pictures of, just test fitted the radiators with the spacers and then rinsed out the rads with boiling water and distilled. Also got a feel for how I was going to route the tube between the two rads. Looks like 45's will work perfectly. Starting to feel like I should've ordered more 45's, lol. Originally ordered 5 45's and 5 90's when I was planning on stuffing all of this into an 800D. Curse you once more Caselabs!

no u feel like that in every build... and u end up having left overs..

by the Xth build.. your extra fittings turn into this:

lol.... u might as well start getting a plastic box like i did.. because i have yet to meet someone who doesnt end up with that after 2 yrs... :whiste:

Well the good news (I guess.. sigh) is that the 45's to connect the two rads didn't work out. I ran the tubing for the rad connection and the pump to PSU side rad just now and it just wouldn't work out. So I wound up having to run the tubes from straight compressions in a big arc through the next hole available in the case. Not what I wanted but oh well. Now I'll have more 45's to play with later.

I really can't figure out what to do about the res and how to connect it to the pump. The easiest and purdy-est way would be to put a 90 on both the res and the pump. I don't like that at all.

I took pics but the camera battery was dying so they turned out total crap. I'll take some more later and post them up.

-edit-

Also, a few of my 45's and 90's have a pretty large "rock" in them. The two separate areas at the swivel point lean back and forth quite a bit. Is this normal?

2 years? two builds more likely. Been longer than that T. I've got shelves,,,,, 2 foot deep 6 foot long with PC crap and my LC boxes are plastic totes 24' x 16" x 6" deep, 3 of those totes,,,,,, pumps, tops, fittings, brackets, blocks, reservoirs, you name it, it's in there. All but the rads, they got their own box.:whiste: I think if I got all my fittings in one place I could fill 1/2 of one of those totes and I know damn well you've got more scrap than me.

Thanks for the confirmation

I really didn't want to have to run the tube like that, but looks like that's the only option. Same with the rad to rad tube I'm sure about $50 more in fittings could fix the rad problem though, lol. Probably something I'll do down the road.

Will finish up the case tubing tomorrow and then start pulling parts from the current rig to get blocks mounted.

Shame I'll have to wait a few days to play Red Faction.
