Palak paneer is freaking awesome.
We usually just order the tali (daily thing), comes with either chick peas or lentils, various other awesome veg concoctions. It's what made me start enjoying vegetables!

I like goat, and not many restaurants other than Indian restaurants serve it.

All Jamaican and Trini restaurants will serve goat, curried or stewed. There is an excellent Jamaican soup called Manish Water- the entire head is cooked in it. The stuff stinks, but it tastes great. If you visit NYC, you can get some good stuff in the Bronx. You can get everything in NYC, of course.

Chicken Tikki Masala is my current favorite. I need to try new a new dish.

good starter dish for those not familiar with Indian food. I actually find it a bit sweet. Goes good with naan though.

@busydude, pepper is a fruit

I thought we should hit up some Indian food tonight because I have never tried it before.

We found a nice, classy restaurant downtown and ordered 1 lamb dish, 1 chicken dish and 1 vegetable dish. We also had rice and Naan bread.

The actual dishes were:
Lamb Korma
Murg Tikka Labab
Gobhi Dil Khush

This was actually an awesome dinner. Spicy but not overpowering. The sauces were fantastic and the meats tender and juicy. The naan bread was very pleasant.

Over all we were very impressed with both the food and the wait staff.

We will probably hit them up again next month and try some different dishes.

:awe:

You better hope none of the cooks used the bathroom during meal preparation....You do know folks from India do not use TP, right? They use their fingers and a bowl of water for #2 cleanup....

It was some tasty shit I bet, lol....

makes sense for India, if you had to make enough TP for 1billion+ people you would need a lot of trees and I doubt India has the extra room to be growing trees for TP production. I would hope once they come to the US and have access to TP, they would see the benefit of using it.

Stop with your reasonable answers.

On that Phal Curry: I just read up on its history and supposedly it originated in the UK just like Chicken Tikka Masala. Now it makes total sense as to why I never heard of that dish.

I am from India and I have never ever heard of Phal Curry.

I second that.

also on the list is: Kashmiri Roganjosh Achari Gosht Shola Lamb Boti Tandoori Murg Murg Malai Tikka Dum Aloo Awadh

avoid Murg Malai Tikka, as some place may serve it a tad sweeter than it is supposed to. Instead, go for the Murg Kalimirch Tikka. Be prepared for an explosion of flavors in your mouth.

Not cool man. We do use fingers and water, but a generous splashing of water. That way, you can be sure that there is not even a hint of shit stuck to your ass. And we use liquid soap to wash our hands after. If shit on your fingers seems disgusting to you, so does it to us. We're people too, you know. And frankly, i think not cleaning ur ass with water after a dump is very unhygienic. I dont know how you can just use some toilet paper and wipe it off.

There. I said it. I know i'm going to get a lot of flak for this, but it had to be said. It is my personal opinion though, cos i dont know the advantages/disadvantages of wiping my ass with toilet paper.

Most indian restaurants are North Indian/Punjabi food. Try some southern food sometimes too:

I am really pissed off at how most of the restaurants only serve North Indian food. I think people also tend to feel that South Indian food is not hip enough to be ordered in a restaurant.

I have yet to find a restaurant that makes nice dal and the curries have so much oil in that... it disgusts me.

I understand that this is new to Angrez wale.. but going to an Indian restaurant is the last option I will consider here in the US.

Birmingham, AL. Wait wtf? Is everyone really black down there? I was expecting all white.

You've obviously never been down here. After the 1960s all the white folks moved to new cities. Segregation lived on.
