My friend got 242 stars in Mario Galaxy.

Apparently, you can get 120 stars with mario, which unlocks luigi as a playable character... Luigi can also get 120 stars... then there are 2 other stars that you get for something (maybe getting 120 with both M&L?)

So yeah... I think I've got 50 right now and have not beaten it once because I keep getting distracted with Halo.

I have 66 stars, and managed last night to get my wife hooked I started called the second player feature the 'Wife Feature' because it allowed me to help her enough to get into the game and although I'll now have to fight her for control of the Wii, I like that she's starting to play a few more games :thumbsup:

edit: I have beaten the end boss, but plan on trying to get most of the stars over a loooong period of time, very casual gaming.

Wow... I think I finished with 101 stars. I would have gone for 120 if I actually owned a Wii and this game and had the time. I'm not sure about 242, though (although I tend to be a completist). That might be a decent incentive to save for a future revisiting.

Heh the funny thing about the second player feature is that you can semi-control the first player by making them jump. Good for saves on some of the maps.

I'm sitting on 55 stars... not in a rush to complete the game. Depending on how ridiculous the requirements to get the stars become I will decide when to stop.

I'm bumping this thread because I'm somewhat ashamed to admit ... I now possess 242 stars

I originally beat the game, and my wife was about half way through. My goal then was to beat her while cruising through the game as Luigi Managed to do so well before she finished, much to her chagrin.

Fantastic game ... obviously wasn't quite as interesting the second time through, but it was definitely harder in places with Luigi's slightly different controls.
