there really is no way except maybe smoothing down the whole screen and that isn't something you can do. have your friend buy you an LCD and give your damaged CRT instead. and as GY said, choose better friends.
Why the HELL do people touch monitor screens?! One time, my boss drew a small line on my work LCD with a PENCIL. Then, do you know what he did? He tried to erase it. I get to stare at that mark every day.
Your friend owes you a new monitor. Simple as that. If I damaged my friend's monitor, I would replace it out of sheer embarassment, not to mention moral values. Why was a key anywhere near your monitor in the first place?
You might be able to get his insurance to cover your CRT or buy you a new one, either way, he's getting you a replacement. Take him to small claims if he gets nasty.
