My FSB only overclocks till 153mhz - why ?

I can only reach about 150-155mhz on the fsb, after that my monitor doesn't turn on, or some
irregular letters are displayed at the post, instead of the normal lines of text...

Normally this would be because of heat, but the temperature (according to the bios)
is only 46 degrees celcius on the CPU, and 36 degrees around it.
I am running a cpu-voltage of 1.850 (max - also tried 1.800) and a ram-voltage of 2.7 (is this too high or too low?)

512megs of crucial pc2100, on an epox 8kha+. Cpu is an XP1600.

Btw: how do I change the ram-cycle from 2.5 ns to 2.0 ns? the option is crossed out, and I can't select it..a lot of other
features in my bios are also crossed out like this.

the xp processor is locked and you have to set the setting before the 2.5 ns and the interleave option to manual

maybe a pci card u have is holding you back. take out all cards that are not necessary and try it. Also remember u are overclocking so it doesnt meant he mobo can go that high either.

a 20ish FSB OC is nothing to sneeze at if you have it set at the default multiplier.

If you want to reach higher FSB speeds, more than likely you will have to drop your multiplier and up your FSB by unlocking your XP. CPUs have a general threshold for max mhz, and you are probably close to it with just a FSB OC. In my experience, high multiplier OCs are generally less stable than high FSB OCs. The higher the multiplier, the higher strain on your Vcore and 3.3 and 5v rails.
