Woah. I'd be pissed if I bought that and it was sold by a third party. Amazon puts it right up front and you can filter out only prime eligible things.

Seems like the OP isn't really interested in getting his money back. If he was he would've chewed their ears off and contacted his credit/debit card company that same week... He's still reluctant to contact them even AFTER buying another phone elsewhere...

Yep. And BBB.org. They'll usually take care of business quickly. If you can get your hooks into an email address or phone number someone higher in company at NewEgg, they'll want to know. (I hope!)

I love the 'Egg, and I'll be bummed if they go downhill.

Their executives will/should want to know if their business practices are coming off as shady. Enough of us nerds buy stuff from them on corporate accounts for work on our recommendation. They shouldn't want to derail that gravy train to make a few extra shady bucks.

I had the same experience with my SGS2 (although they look my return on). They sold me a used phone from a 3rd party (which existing sms back and forth between whoever was using the phone). Luckily they didn't give me the run around and took my return right away.. I don't buy phones from Newegg anymore.

I definitely want to get my money back. And I feel pretty confident NewEgg will eventually give it to me, I really can't see how they could not. I'm just mostly dismayed at how out of sorts NewEgg is, how bad this process has been, and all the hoops they seem to want me to jump through.

I was just hoping NewEgg could finish up their claim process before I had to go to the next step. If that isn't done my Monday, then I'll follow you guys' advise and call my bank. I've never disputed a charge with my bank before, so not sure how much help they'll be.

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
This is why I always make my big purchases with my Amex or Chase Sapphire card.
They will take off the charges without hesitation.
Yup.
All my purchases big ticket electronic items that cost $$$ go on my American Express Blue Cash card.
Not to mention they give you an extra 1 year warranty on top of the manufacturer warranty on any product for free.

PM the guy above a link to this thread. Although he hasn't visited the forum since 08/26/11 so I'm not sure if it will be of much use.

I'm not sure if he's even still a Newegg employee. His last post on the forum was 12-08-2009, but he's been lurking since then apparently.

And as everyone has said in this thread already, inform your credit card company/bank ASAP and file for a chargeback. Some institutions only allow a 60 day period or less to file for chargebacks so you don't want that window to close on you.

Do Reseller Ratings. I bet you hear from them within a day if you do.

I spoke with NewEgg today. Unfortunately there was still no update on the claim investigation for some reason (think that was started about 2 weeks ago).

But a supervisor said he'd personally investigate this with the third party Brainstorm and said he would have this resolved in 24 hours.

It turned out to be closer to 36 hours. But this morning I found a couple emails from NewEgg. One with an RMA number and another with a prepaid return shipping label.

I still don't know what the hiccup was, what went so wrong. But I can finally return this phone to NewEgg now and that will make me happy enough.

I'm glad to see it finally worked out for you almost a month later. I remember when NewEgg sent me a gift basket full of goodies just for saying I was disappointed that they switched from FedEx to UPS on ResellerRatings.

I definitely don't see that happening anymore anytime soon..... ever.

They changed into this big ticket company... seemingly overnight, and they just didn't handle the customer service transition very well.

Hopefully they don't charge their 15% restocking fee now. They did that too me on a defective wifi network card, but I didn't want to waste my time bickering with them for the $10.

I'm in a similar situation with Newegg right now. Trouble is they didn't even put the phone in the box the first time. They shipped me just the bluetooth headset, no phone. I had another one shipped (at my expense again) and figure that they'd work out the refund on their own time. Over two weeks later I'm still waiting. About to get to the chargeback, bomb the BBB and reseller-ratings stage here.

More and more of my dollars are spent on Amazon now; yes, they court 3rd party vendors, but make this plain in the the product listing, and the grievance process that goes with it. So, I buy products I know I can return to them, and so far have had zero problems. Unless Newegg makes it clear that they don't stand behind a product they sell, it's only a matter of time before this jumps up to bite them in the ass.

FWIW, I bought my last phone from my carrier, and at a good price. No questions on who to see about problems.

I hate newegg - can't stand the layout the site, and their prices. I always find cheaper other places, with faster shipping and better customer service (if something does go wrong). I'll never forgot my last shopping experience with newegg. I purchased some thermal paste, and the fedex delivered the item to me, so I open the box and behold "NOTHING". Those airbag things were in the box, but no paste. Box of air took a trip across the country lol! Called up newegg, and they said they said sorry and would ship our another to me. You think they would next day air me the item due to the problem, but I get 5 day UPS shipping instead.
