My Gateway 6400 is noisy, is it normal?

I got my Gateway 6400 yesterday, very nice.

However, I noticed it's very noisy. Not that some clanking noise, but loud fan or something.

Is it like that for everyone because it's a server? How do I know it's a defected model or not?

Might wanna call technical support and let them listen to your computer over the phone - then they can decide

If the fans are just the ones making the loud noise, then you don't really have anything to worry about.

It's actually pretty quiet for a server.

If you want to replace the fans, I'd suggest these ones. They are noticably quieter than the Panaflo 120x38mm L1A's (68.9cfm at 30db):

JMC 120x25mm

I have them in my Gateway 6400 case and they're absolutely excellent. 61cfm at 26db. I got two 15k rpm drives in the 3.5&quot; drive bay too, and have no heat problems.
