Actually, once you click on each region, you can see that Europe is bunched together (more genetically similar) and East Asia is more spread apart (more genetically distanced).

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Europe is bunched together because they did a lot of breeding between the countries. East Asia did not interbreed within the cultures.

This is basically due to country boarders and policies.

Oh OK, yes I believe you are right. Different Asian groups grew more genetically distanced from each other as time went on. Some are more obvious (like Japan) than others.

It's weird, I have absolutely zero interest in this kind of stuff. My ex girlfriend used to ask me all of these questions about my family tree and I never knew the answers to anything. She thought I was nuts, but I just never think about it and have no desire to investigate anything.

I really have absolutely no idea. My grandparents say they think there is some Roman blood in the family tree, but it's pretty far down the line. It may just be typical of most Europeans to have ancestors from that area.
