Well if she's showing symptoms then she's already past the most contagious stage.
Expect to be sick within a week.
How can you reduce this? Few things.
- Echinacea. This panacea has yet to be clinically proven but I, along with many others, swear by it. Buy a bottle of this and down 6-12 tablets a day for a week. I do it every time I feel a cold or flu coming on, and guess what? I haven't been sick in 18 months.
- Oscillococcinum. This you buy at any drugstore. It comes in 3 capsules that you down every few hours and it supposed to fight off the flu. It supposedly works but I've never used it.
- Lots of rest, lots of fluids. Being dehydrated, stressed, and tired will weaken your immune system and make you more susceptible to getting sick. It will also delay your recovery if you already are sick.
