Eh... A 2GB iPod Nano is only $200, and it sounds like you'll be properly "rewarded" for your purchase. If you're still together in 2 weeks, go for it. If not, there is always eBay

LOL a '94 Saturn.

I do OK tho; I'm an architect. I just drive the Saturn cuz it was my graduation present, my mom gave it to me, and it runs great.

Whats the average starting wage for an architect. I was considering this career change

It depends. Usually 30K. I'm making considerably more than that and I've been at it for almost 4 years. We make around what engineers make, give or take. If you're really good and become famous you can make millions.

What are you doing now for a living?

Honestly, many architects are unhappy with how little they make. They want to make as much as doctors, but usually don't come close.

I work in construction now, so I already know more than the typical architect From what I understand, architects in the USA are treated like sh!t......lower than general labourer. But I live just outside Toronto...in Burlington, so thats not an issue.

I live in Toronto and work at one of the big firms here. I started at $12/hour when I was in school, made $15/hour when I came out, and now I'm over $20/hour, and that's the going clip. In 5 years I expect to make $30/hour, and make $100,000/year+ by the time I'm 45.

I charge $40/hour for freelance work, which usually means designing mansions.

How much do construction workers make anyway?

Go to Ryerson if you want to become an architect.

No I never told her that.

Maybe I should make a poll. Conflicting reports here.

I'm making more than that. How old are you and how long have you been at it? I'm 26, and like I said, I've been doing it for 4 years.

Sometimes amazing sex is a good reason not to dump a gold digger, but if its not happening move on, find someone who wants to do FOR you!

You should join teh union then. I would if I were in construction. It's dangerous work, you deserve good pay and safety training.

I get all the safety training....required by law nowadays. I work with the family business, therfore I don't have to work overly hard.

As suggested, take advantage of her for the next 2 weeks then kick her ass to the curb.

They only get worse.

As said above - if this is just after a month - she is gonna empty your pockets real fast.
I say - dump her.

On the other hand, personally I find it kind of cheesy to ask for anything for your birthday. If someone gives you a gift that you want but didn't ask for, that's being thoughtful, but if you ask for something for your birthday and get it, that devalues the gift.

What if you had two cars, and she wanted the one you dont use anymore and are planning on selling?

Obviously, she isnt aiming that high, but the principle is the same: that ipod or car is still worth a substancial amount of money, and the fact that he wouldnt actually be removing money from his wallet in order to give it to her doesnt negate the fact that such a gift would cost him.

You can insert the obligatory "if you give her the iPod, make sure she understands you get to DIITB and/or get roadhead anytime you want" comment here.

well, if you really care about the girl, then do it.

also if she REALLY wants an ipod or not is a good question too.

if you dont, its up to you. you could always get her a mini (if you can find them) or a 2GB nano.

actually, i would get her that mobicube or whatever from walmart.com. i like that over the shuffles.

Well it's used and I'm guessing it's worth $150CDN. I'm just gonna give it to her and get her something small for xmas and stop worrying about it. She is greedy tho.

You're an architect and a used ipod is of concern to you?

Ditch the broad.

I'm serious.

You can tell if you've got a keeper because she gives a lot, and asks for little in return except your companionship. A keeper is also one that YOU WANT to give gifts to, not one that ASKS YOU for gifts.

She just reeks of a materialistic gold-digging brat.
