Eh... A 2GB iPod Nano is only $200, and it sounds like you'll be properly "rewarded" for your purchase. If you're still together in 2 weeks, go for it. If not, there is always eBay

sounds like a digger to me. What car do you drive?
LOL a '94 Saturn.
I do OK tho; I'm an architect. I just drive the Saturn cuz it was my graduation present, my mom gave it to me, and it runs great.
Whats the average starting wage for an architect. I was considering this career change
It depends. Usually 30K. I'm making considerably more than that and I've been at it for almost 4 years. We make around what engineers make, give or take. If you're really good and become famous you can make millions.
What are you doing now for a living?
Honestly, many architects are unhappy with how little they make. They want to make as much as doctors, but usually don't come close.
I work in construction now, so I already know more than the typical architect From what I understand, architects in the USA are treated like sh!t......lower than general labourer. But I live just outside Toronto...in Burlington, so thats not an issue.

I live in Toronto and work at one of the big firms here. I started at $12/hour when I was in school, made $15/hour when I came out, and now I'm over $20/hour, and that's the going clip. In 5 years I expect to make $30/hour, and make $100,000/year+ by the time I'm 45.
I charge $40/hour for freelance work, which usually means designing mansions.
How much do construction workers make anyway?
Go to Ryerson if you want to become an architect.

I thought you guys all made $35/hour. I have friends doing electrical (they're licenced electrical builders) and that's what they make. $70/hour OT. They make more than architects.

She's expressed an interest in an ipod that you have that you are no longer using? And you consider this gold-digging? Maybe she's being thoughtful in asking for something that you won't have to spend money on.
On the other hand, personally I find it kind of cheesy to ask for anything for your birthday. If someone gives you a gift that you want but didn't ask for, that's being thoughtful, but if you ask for something for your birthday and get it, that devalues the gift.

well, if you really care about the girl, then do it.
also if she REALLY wants an ipod or not is a good question too.
if you dont, its up to you. you could always get her a mini (if you can find them) or a 2GB nano.
actually, i would get her that mobicube or whatever from walmart.com. i like that over the shuffles.

Well it's used and I'm guessing it's worth $150CDN. I'm just gonna give it to her and get her something small for xmas and stop worrying about it. She is greedy tho.
