I bought my gf a brand new ipod mini last year in december... I had only been going out with her for 6 months... if you've got a 3G one that you aren't using what the hell, give it to her.

it's hard to say w/o more details, but i don't think it's unreasonable for the girl to expect the guy to pick up the tab when you go out to eat. When i first start dating a girl, I usually always try to pick up the tab. I haven't dated any girls that "always aks for stuff" when we went shopping though, that seems kinda tacky.

As far as the ipod issue though, I'd be glad to give it to her. I thought you were saying she was asking you to buy her a new one, but if it's just your old used one, that's fine. in fact it's nice that she asked for something used that you already had. that's my thoughts.

Rule # 1 in a successful relationship: don't let your bf/gf knows about things you are not willing to "share".

This is a very bad sign.

If I were you, I wouldn't give her the iPod for her bd just to see how she reacts. Get her something inexpensive. By then you'll have only been dating six weeks and that's too soon for a costly gift.

If she flips out, pouts, whines, etc. then dump her because the writing is on the wall. If she enjoys the gift you gave her and never mentions the iPod, maybe surprise her with it a couple weeks later.

That's exactly what a good friend of mine told me to do. I think I'll try it.

that sounds like the perfect thing to do. get something thoughtful and simple for the bday. if she lets the ipod go then you can give it to her for xmas.

Going "downtown" takes money and resources. Typically guys keep looking for the lowest fare to get to "downtown". Sometimes you've got to take a few connecting subways or busses... but you'll eventually get there.. just depends how much BS you are willing to put up.

Dump her like expired milk. I smell gold digger.

in a month you've gone from being unemployed and broke to doing "ok" and making 20 and hour at a firm?

Yes. It's actually 22/hour.

go on ebay and look for ipod batteries of that model. give her that one.
if she seems greedy, here's a bit of advice: all girls all initially. it's their way of testing if you are willing to give things up for them. most often the test is about money. welcome ot manhood

wtf r u talking about. Thats called being a sucker and getting played.

Dump that wench. A guy would never ask for something so materialistic after a month of dating.

That's an awfully big gift after just a month of dating...I've been with my bf for 2 and a half years and I still don't think I'd ask for an iPod!

ok i voted before i read your post. intitially i thought she's a normal girl as my gf hinted at the ipod as well (although she didnt flat out ask for one from me). but then again we've been going out for 3 years now. if she's flat out asking you for stuff only after a month, she's a golddigger...

she's asking for it as a birthday present, when actually it's just a way to get you to say "oh, I won't give you something secondhand for your birthday" here take the ipod right now, and keep it, I'll get you something even better for your bday."

My gf and I split everything pretty much and mine never asks me to give her something of mine. She can borrow it but never takes as hers! I even tried giving her my old laptop that is only a year old now and she doesn't want it. Um 1 GHz Processor computer vs. a 2.8 GHz. I told her come on take because she complains how slow hers is but she never accepts it. uses it but doesn't want me to give it to her. But we pretty much split everything down the middle

if, after a single month, she gets an ipod, she's going to want more, especially since she is trying too hard already.

she's as good as gone.

My GF's birthday is in 2 weeks and she has repeatedly asked for the iPod. We've only been dating a month. I like the girl, but she's constantly asking for stuff. She asks for a lift home from work almost every day, and whenever we go out she asks me to buy her stuff whether it be food or something at the store we're in.

My question is: is this dump-worthy? She has no money at the moment and I pay for just about everything. It's only money, but she comes across as greedy and I'm concerned that if I were ever with her long term she would milk me dry.

Also, how much is a 10GB 3G iPod worth in absolute new/mint condition?
sounds like she is too needy.
i vote for dump her.
