I'm not in to girls that 'want' things like that. Sure I like buying things and being romantic but having a girl 'expect' and 'want' stuff is SUCH a turn off it is sickening.

Make sure you are hitting it good and often. But either way there is only SO much you are willing to put up with. She definately doesn't sound like relationship material gf imo.

If all you do is give and all she does is take, then lose her because she is a gold digger. I understand that at the moment, she has nothing of monetary value to give you. How about other things she can give you that doesn't cost her any money? Is she generous with those kinds of gifts? There in lies your answer. That is all.

Somewhat, it depends though. I'm giving things a week, and I don't think I'll give her the iPod for her bday just so I can guage her reaction.

My GF's birthday is in 2 weeks and she has repeatedly asked for the iPod. We've only been dating a month. I like the girl, but she's constantly asking for stuff. She asks for a lift home from work almost every day, and whenever we go out she asks me to buy her stuff whether it be food or something at the store we're in.

My question is: is this dump-worthy? She has no money at the moment and I pay for just about everything. It's only money, but she comes across as greedy and I'm concerned that if I were ever with her long term she would milk me dry.

Also, how much is a 10GB 3G iPod worth in absolute new/mint condition?

I think that's too big of a gift to ask for, especially just after a month of dating.

What if I make it a birthday/xmas combo present? She commutes 2 hours to work; I feel bad for her and I can see why she would want one.

I was unemployed and broke when I met her by the way.

sounds like a digger to me. What car do you drive?

LOL a '94 Saturn.

I do OK tho; I'm an architect. I just drive the Saturn cuz it was my graduation present, my mom gave it to me, and it runs great.

Whats the average starting wage for an architect. I was considering this career change

It depends. Usually 30K. I'm making considerably more than that and I've been at it for almost 4 years. We make around what engineers make, give or take. If you're really good and become famous you can make millions.

What are you doing now for a living?

Honestly, many architects are unhappy with how little they make. They want to make as much as doctors, but usually don't come close.

something does not compute

from the first post you said you were broke when you met her

however it says you have been working for four years

did you meet 4 years ago and start dating now?

i guess that is logical but your most appears like you hardly know the girl

did she only start dating once you started doing well

if so that is a bad sign

I'm serious.

You can tell if you've got a keeper because she gives a lot, and asks for little in return except your companionship. A keeper is also one that YOU WANT to give gifts to, not one that ASKS YOU for gifts.

She just reeks of a materialistic gold-digging brat.

I just broke up w/ her. I'm not sure if this thread had anything to do with it. She just called me at 11:30pm from work, asked for a lift home, I said no, and she flipped. I have to work tomorrow morning at 8am and can't deal with her anymore. This happens all the time.

I know it's painful, but it's for the best. You don't need that kind of drama in your life.

Read before you post and save yourself a lot of time and embarrassment!

If only people actually did that, the posts around here would be cut by at least 10%.

Did you offer her the ipod as a parting gift?

Get used to it brother! Starts with ipod and goes..._______________ (fill in blank)! I agree with who ever said wife material. If you can afford it, get her her own.

I got my fiancée a Nano for her birthday. A week later she almost got mugged for it A month later she showed it to me and the screen was so badly scratched it was unusable. I called Apple and they let me return it. Worst choice of a gift ever, for me anyway.

Oh come on ... as a fellow architect, I say you should think of something much more creative.

I'm guessing you weren't having sex then.
