My Visiontek GF3Ti200 (the BB-Black Friday one) is making noises when the computer is powered on. I pinpointed the source of the noise to be the fan on the card. It is not rotating at normal speed, it's rotating very very slowly. It's so slow, I can still read what's on the fan while it's spinning. BUT, if I wait a while, the fan will eventually speed up to normal and quiet down.

How can I get the fan to go full blast all the time?

thanks,
don

EDIT: I found out from a friend that a bearing on the fan must have come loose because it is easy to get the fan to wobble to the side just a tad, but apparently enough to cause some noise.

You had better replace the fan or get a warranty replacement card before the fan fails. You will get lockups if your fan stops.

you should be able to get a replacement at 2cooltek.com or coldcpu.com.

Make sure the fan isn't overly dusty which might cause it to act that way. Blow it off real good with some compressed air and see if that changes anything. If not, replace it. The fans are pretty cheap.

It's very easy. Just a matter of removing four screws.

Sounds to me like you have the same exact problem that I had with the chipset fan on my mobo. See my site @ flywheel.cjb.net for my info on my situation. If you do end up replacing the fan and there's a heat sink under it on your card, the fan replacement should be rather simple. Make sure you take the old fan off and take it w/ you to the store so that you can line up the mounting holes though.

I would go for the RMA, but if you want, its really easy to swap fans, usually two or four screws. you might have to solder the power connector if you want it to be powered directly from the video card instead of a molex / mobo connector though (I did )

Use this opportunity to upgrade and get yourself a Chrome-Orb. THis seems to be the best chipset cooler around.
