We sat down to watch the movie. We got maybe 20 minutes into the movie at the scene when everyone is noticing the first explosion in one of the trade centers and I told her that I didnt want to watch anymore. I dont think Im overly emotional about the whole thing, but it was just soo sad and depressing and emotional when the actual event occured, I dont really want to experience it all over again by watching a movie about it. I dont think Im going to see "The World trade Center" with Nick Cage in it either.

Anyone feel the same way?

Hollywood is just trying to make a buck from the controversy over whether or not its ethical for them to try and make a buck from the controversy. It's genius and stomach turning at the same time, as all good businesses are...

That said, I'm not watching../.

I saw United 93 opening night. It was packed and there wasn't a dry eye in the house when it was over.

Edit: I do agree with acemcmac to an extent. Hollywood loves to capitalize on tragedy.

United 93 was a very good movie, but it was VERY stressful for me to watch. I was angry and sad and all mixed up after the movie much like I was on 9/11 itself

No comment on the movie.

It's not surprising the passengers did what they did. They knew the hijackers intended to crash the plane so taking control was the only option for survival.

I mean it's not all glamour with no substance and $100 million paid actors. it's a great movie that is very emotional and just seems "real" if you know what i mean.

Haven't watched it yet but I intend to.

I can watch anything and it takes a lot for me to even tear up. The last couple times I even came close in a theatre were for Saving Private Ryan and Schindler's List (damn you Spielberg).

This whole 911 thing has got me thinking something is wrong with me. I"m just not effected by it at all. I was home the day it happened and watched it on tv. I realize there was a lot of death, and it was a horrible tragedy, but I have no emotions about it. The only feelings I've had was disgust for the way our goverment handled it. I get more emotional watching something like saving private ryan or band of brothers.

I have a problem with some movie company / actors profitting of a national tragedy.

Nobody else finds this a little sick and fvcked up?

Funny thing is I've seen this movie 5 times and each time I see it, I end up crying to the point where you try to make yourself stop but you just start shaking instead. PLus it leaves me so angry, sad, mixed up and generally like a mack truck just hit me.

Watched it for the 5th time last night with one of my girl friends from the nursing program who is a staunch republican who said the movie was just going to be a liberal slant. Once it was over she didnt say a word for like 15 minutes after the movie was over, she just sat there with tears pouring down her face, just like me.

Her first words were, 'I have to watch that again'

She ended up thinking it was one of the best movies she's seen in years. And I would have to agree, if this movie doesnt pick up an Oscar nomination for Best PIcture and Director it would be a shame

Well yea it's sick and f*cked up but the movie industry is in fact a business, and all they're concerned with is money.

Is a movie about D-Day any different?

If this is what it takes for people like sourceninja and Runes911 to be able to personalize it and understand the suffering of those who lived through it or died, then I'm all for it.

I agree Krunchy. I won't be watching either of those movies. Not because I don't think the tragedy should be remembered, but because it's too horrible. Seeing it unfold once on tv was enough for me.

According to the filmmakers, the film was made with the full cooperation of all the families of the passengers.[1]

The world premiere of United 93 took place on April 26 at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival in New York City, a festival founded to celebrate New York City as a major filmmaking center and to contribute towards the long-term recovery of lower Manhattan. [2] Several family members of the passengers aboard the flight attended the premiere to show their support.

The film opened nationwide in North America on April 28. Ten percent of the gross from the three-day opening weekend was promised toward a donation to create a memorial for the victims of Flight 93. [3] The total gross to the beginning of September 2006 was $31.4 million domestically, and $63.7 million worldwide.[4][5]

Everyone is so quick to jump on this movie, if you wanna talk exploitation of a story see WTC by Oliver Stone. This movie does the passengers of United 93 serious justice. At least see the movie first before you slam the director and studio for what they did.

For that matter read this review by Rolling Stone. It's one of the more straight up honest reviews I've read and it makes a point that there is not ONE iota of hollywood bullsh!t in this movie.
