really? i thought GPAs were supposed to go up in your last few years.
I remember my upper division classes being easy GPA boosters. The classes were tougher than lower division classes, but most people would get Bs or better. Fresh and soph classes, on the other hand, gave low grades to "weed people out".

no freshman and sophmore classes are a joke compared to now, though i did think they were very hard at the time

what made it easy for us was the dumb people brought the curve way down, so now instead of me being an A student the first 2 years , now i am a B student

senior year i've heard is very easy so that should be a boost in GPA

So? Very few select companies look at GPA in CS. Now if you were an engilsh major I'd say you're fusked.

Dont worry, I graduated with a 2.3 GPA with BSEE. I've been working over 2 years now.

Edit: I'm hardly putting any of the knowledge I learnt in college right now at work. So, even though I got a low GPA, its not having any effect on my work. I graduated from Georgia Tech, a top 5 Engineering school. A 2.3 there is like a 3.0 at most other places.

I'm lucky I learned early on that holding a job, partying, and never going to class fscks you up hardcore. Freshman/Sophmore year, I had two straight quarters of failing every single class. Quit my job, stopped partying, and actually went to class. Those two quarters of mayhem along with not caring about some of my GE classes were enough to push my general GPA to just below 3.0. My major GPA is about .5 points higher, which is pretty sad.

I ended up with a 3.95 GPA with my BS in Computer Science and I studied 1-3 hours a week and most of that was for program writing homework, not really studying. I also worked full time the entire duration.

You sir are the exception the rule. Notice how you didn't study that much? That allowed you to work without losing time to study. Most people, otoh, have to study a good bit to get a 3.95 GPA.

I have a 3.67, Bio major, spend about 1-3 hours a week studying probably. I do go to class a lot, though.
For the gened classes that are uninteresting, I just tough it out and realize they aren't that hard, devote a little time, and golden.

I call BS on your BSCS

Seriously there's a huge differernece between effort needed to obtain a 4.00 and 3.00. How many classes did you take and what school did you attend?

People with 3.5+ GPAs (in science and engineering majors) How many hours/week do you spend studying?

BTW, if you're in high school, I don't care about your GPA at all, don't bother posting it.
I thought you were heading to Med School?
I got in with about that GPA, but college was ten years ago for me, so the school gave me a break.

Don't worry about your GPA though. IT'LL ONLY DETERMINE THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WHETHER YOU'RE RICH OR LIVING AS A BUM!

The professors and professionals I know are high middle class, but still depend on the paycheck. OTOH, I know several rich people that run businesses and deal in real estate. None of them have a college degree. Draw your own conclusions.

I think most med schools in the US won't even look at your application if it's below a 3.5 nowadays. My brother with a 3.8+ GPA could barely make it to Med school last Fall.

What's with all these people saying they only study a few hours per week and have a 3.8+? I only have like a 2.7 and I study all the fricken time! I study 1-3 hourse just before dinner! I have sucky time management skills and I'm easily distracted too. Damn.

3.3ish... could be higher, but I am enjoying college too much Id rather have the extra memories than the GPA anyways. Most companies want experience out of the gate, not a good gpa, and Im workin on the experience... hope it all works out.

Yes your GPA blows and having a fulltime job is a lame excuse. Low GPA will come back to haunt you when you will try to get in to a Grad school.
