About 90 yrs. old, now in full septic shock.
Blood pressure improved, but is now unstable.
Maxed out on medication.
Complications from pneumonia.

Family called to bedside early last evening, then sent home.
It's the waiting game now.
It's possible she can pull out of it, but not very likely.

EDIT: Now experiencing liver failure.
Doctor says this is it, barring a miracle.

UPDATE: She passed away with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren around her bedside. We were singing her favorite song when the monitors flatlined. It was the most emotional night of my life. I believe she's in a better place now.

So sorry to hear OP. My grandmother passed from a septic infection maybe 6-7 years ago. I went to see her at the hospital the day before she went. Everything was 'ok' until she reached up and tried to hold my hand. I almost lost it right there.

God bless her and your family.

I developed sepsis in 2000 and actually started having organ failure. It was close, but it is survivable. I wish the best for you guys.

I know how you feel. My dad is 82 on his final days. He lays in his bed at home now on oxygen and morphine, the doctors say there is nothing more they can do so no point in taking him to a hospital. I saw him shed a tear for the first time in my life the other day when he was talking to me about how he was all done, there was nothing more in life for him to do. He was trying to be strong, but I know it has to be rough to realize that you are done and nothing but waiting for your time to run out

Sorry to hear about your grandmother.

I lost my grandmother and grandfather in the same year. Regardless of how much I miss them, death is part of life.

Sorry to hear it.

Have to say, though - 90 years is a pretty darned good run, and she must have done something right to be surrounded by family now that it's her time.

I went through something similar with my fiance' uncle. It really sucks feeling helpless and waiting for what you know will be coming. Take comfort in the fact that she has lived a long fruitful life and in the end will be surrounded by the people that loved her the most.

I hope things work out for the best and if not you have the support of your friends and frenemies here on atot to take your mind off it all. I will be preying for her

I'm sorry for you and your family. However it's best to think on those good times with her and realize that she'll be soon at peace, to suffer no more...
