Heated mattress pad is where it's at. Heat is distributed uniformly. Roll over and you're always in a nice new warm area - I end up kicking the covers off half of the time; keeping it at 6; it goes up to 19.Heater Blanket with a quilt over top to hold more heat in. Everyone should have a good heater blanket on hand...and a Carhart extreme coat and bibs.
OP: if you live near me, I can lend you a spare wood stove & give you half a cord of firewood or whatever you can carry in your trunk. I'm a little more prepared for the heat going out - 2 pellet stoves, a rice coal stove, and a wood stove, plus generator in case of loss of power (wood stove doesn't need power).
