Go see it now and judge for yourself. It's the same CGI and the same class acting as in LOTR. You either like the movies or you don't. This crap about nitpicking every little thing in the movie is annoying. It is by far the best movie of the year and second to LOTR overall.
This. The whining in this thread is tiresome.
Loved the opening scene with Bilbo and Gandalf, nearly word for word right out of the book. Loved the dinner scene with the dwarves and both songs. That whole sequence is just incredibly well done. Loved the Erebor scene showing when Smaug invaded. The grandeur and majesty of the kingdom was much greater than I pictured from the book. Loved, loved, loved the White Council scene showing the interaction and conflicting personalities of all those major characters. And of course the highlight was the Riddles in the Dark scene. If you didn't love that, then I don't know what to say.
Most importantly, you get to know the personalities and motivations of the characters. The dwarves weren't just interchangeable characters, they each had distinct personalities (Dwalin and Dori being my favorites).
Sure some of the CGI was overdone, but what were you expecting? People need to chill out, it was a great flick.
