I hate to be an ass, but the next person that posts about their "home theater" and starts off with anything less than a 40" television should be banned, straight up, no questions asked. Just because you have surround sound speakers and a television in the middle of it all doesn't mean you have a "home theater," it means you have a place to watch TV in your house. </rant>

the-a-ter n. - A building, room, or outdoor structure for the presentation of plays, films, or other dramatic performances.

Home theater has nothing to do with size. If he wants to call it that get off his back.

Back on topic, you should have still got a 4:3 HDTV. I have a 27" and it looks good with regular cable, but when I feed it OTA HD signals or 480p for DVDs it looks awesome. Yeah I have little black bars on the top and bottom but who cares. It still looks great, and regular cable doesn't look like ass.

4:3 HDTV? Hmm...hadn't thought of that. At any rate, I don't want to pay the extra $15 a month or whatever or the 7 or 8 channels they offer, lol. Regular cable really looks just as good as a non-HDTV on yours?

I watch stuff in HD because..well...it's in HD and looks purty. Who cares what it's about. The general consensus is that if you have HD content available, you will probably watch it even if it's a sucky show.

I think we need to work something out where we combine my electronics, your couch, your remote control, and hook up all our bass shakers.

Your wiring looks a lot neater than mine

I'm glad to hear you got everything hooked up finally .

Nice couch. Where'd you get it?

From a friend, actually, a few years ago. He had it in his shed for awhile, covered in dog hair and junk. I spent like a week completely cleaning it up from nasty to awesome. It's competely sectional - you can arrange the pieces anyway you want. It's also great for installing the bass shakers, because the inside is basically just a wooden box. It's super comfy. You can see the giant pillows scattered about too - my grandma hooked me up and made me 5 of them as a wedding present of sorts, and we stuffed them last night.

And YOyoYOhowsDAjello, lol

Nice TV room you have there, at least it's a good starting point. Not to be too picky here but once you finish the HTPC I'd look for a place to hide the thing. The ones that are DIY built and come in HTPC style cases look good in the open. A standard Dell case just doesn't look right in a TV room. I'm thinking of doing a HTPC for audio purposes in my TV room (can't honestly think of a need for one for video have a DVR already) but I have a closet that I'll just hide it in and run cables from there into the receiver. The sad part is that mine is still a work in progress the only two parts that are going to stick around are the Harman Kardon AVR-230 receiver and the Paradigm PDR-10 subwoofer the other stuff is subject to change. Oh well at least like yours it is a start

Yeah, like I said, it's not very pretty, but it does a good job. I'm either going to upgrade to an Antec case, maybe the Aria or Overture, or else go the mini-ITX route and get a nice little case like this. I will be a happy man when the nano-itx stuff comes out

I've considered getting a DVR, but I want to be able to have a bit more flexibility as far as the recorded files go, plus have music capability. Plus it's just fun to screw around with hardware and build stuff. The software has gotten to the point where I feel it's easy enough for my wife (non-geek) to use it. SageTV is really nice. The HTPC is the biggest work-in-progress as far as the system goes.

I was also looking at getting these for the speakers. Imagine hanging those on a wall next to a plasma
