6'3 155 lbs, age 20.. skinny/athletic body type.

10 AM - wake up
12:30 PM - 2 slides of NY style pizza
6:00 PM - 12x buffalo wings
9:00 PM - 1x hamburger, 2x spicy italian sausage, 1x peach
3 AM - noodle soup

So, what types of foods should I be eating? I really don't gain a lot of weight, I eat pretty often ( this is my typical day ).

I don't really know how to cook well, I was thinking of learning how to make a real ramen soup or something.. I like salads but I've always made very minimal simple salads and nothing complex. I'm OK with fried salmon, not really used to regular seafood. I don't eat much fruits nowadays either.

I can't tell if this is a troll post or not. If not, what I'm about to say is only for your own good: 6 3 155 is NOT athletic. Don't believe the hype for Zac Effron candy-ass clones. Being skinny does NOT equal being athletic and does NOT equal being in shape. You do not eat often, or even that much. for 6 3 that's probably 2500 calories? Why are you up so late? You grow in your sleep, not in your waking hours mostly.

Seriously, you don't know how to make ramen soup? (That's what makes me think this is a troll post). You want to know how to eat better? Stop making shitty excuses about not knowing how to cook. Can you turn a stove on? Good, then you can cook fine. 90% of people who complain about their diet/gym/health level are held back by their own lack of willpower to change. If you're coming here you're at least making a token effort, and hopefully you can make some real changes.

I'm assuming you're trying to bulk up?? If not, you should be.
Here's a sample:

Meal 1: 5 hard boiled eggs, 1.5 cups oatmeal., 8 oz. o.j.
Meal 2: Tunafish sandwhich, apple, 4 oz. lean chicken breast, 8 oz 2% milk
Meal 3: Tunafish sandwhich, banana, 4 oz. lean chicken breast, 8 oz 2% milk
Meal 4: 12 oz. top round steak, or top loin sirlon porkchops, (or even salmon since you mentioned liking it). 8 oz 2% milk, 2 cups spinach.
Meal 5: Something with cassien protein to slow digest while you sleep, maybe 16 oz. milk, or some cheese or something. Hell even several Tbsp. of peanut butter.

Basically don't worry about getting fat. You probably look like you survived biafra at this point. Take a multi-vitamin as well. If you can eat more in the morning, throw in some strawberries or blueberries, say 1/2 cup each day with meal 1.

There is a fat loss sticky at the top of the forum that has a huge listing of foods that you good for you to eat, so read that thread first.

Yep, the thread is good to lose weight, gain weight, or just clean up your diet and learn how your body works a little bit better. I have to update it soon, but there's a ton of good info.

Lol, many people think skinny = athletic. Athletes are athletic. I'm not trying to make fun of the guy here, but the perception is a bit skewed. I'm 5'8", 160 and consider myself finally getting into a nicely built, athletic build.

He's athletic because he's an athlete. On top of that, 3 inches makes a very big difference. Plus I don't find his build very athletic looking. He just looks skinny and awkward. This may be partially because I don't like Nate Diaz at all, lol.

Well, you can overcome the metabolism with sheer amounts of food. You may have to eat a lot more than you do now if you want to gain weight. Everybody does when they want to bulk. You can do it, you just gotta eat.

Also, 3 inches is a big difference when it comes to body composition.

My habits weren't bad like yours, but they weren't good either. I used buy packages of cookies and cereal and devour them in 2-3 days.

Recently I went to the store and did some shopping, in an attempt to go on a healthy diet. Some of the things I plan to make and eat are...

Breakfast: Eggs, Blueberry/Banana Pancakes, Skim Milk
Lunch: Tuna Sandwich (going to use fat-free sour cream as opposed to mayo)
Post Workout: Protein Shake
Dinner: Chicken, Rice, Salad

Then I have all these other things that I can throw to the side of use as snacks throughout the day which include low fat/cal yogurts, 0% cottage cheese, celery, carrots, bananas, blueberries, apples, and of course miniature banana-nut muffins (couldn't cut the processed sugar entirely out of my diet, I'm going to try limit myself to only two per day for now). All I drink is OJ or water as well.

3 inches is a lot. And you don't look like Nate Diaz, otherwise you would have posted your photo instead of his. Professional fighters have a low body fat %, just because you're skinny doesn't mean you're anywhere near that or athletic.

Last year I know my body fat was around 6%ish, it's pretty lean and muscular, sorta basketball type. I do go to the gym at least twice a week, I'd say I have a pretty athletic build. And yeah, I might put a pic up once I find a damn canon camera to usb cable lyin around, ack.

Of course I know how to make basic simple 5 minute ramen noodles, I was referring to a *real* traditional ramen soup.

I usually drink gatorade/arizona green tea/powerade, guess I might try the milk. So basically try to fit in a fruit with any of my meals, I think I'll try that. Just ate a fruit salad with mangos/watermelon/pineapple ( mmm ).

What about take out food? I think I'll try to avoid the pizzas/hamburgers and maybe go for something like a gyro. I'm not used to tunafish sandwich, but the last time I did have it.. it was pretty good.

It's pretty easy to actually make most of your food the night before. Take-out in general is pretty bad for you and uses low-quality ingredients. You can save money and help your body just by makin' your own. If we're going the healthier route, we might as well go healthy-healthy.

If you don't like tuna, try PB&J on whole wheat bread. and 3" is a HUGE difference. It's harder for many taller people to 'fill out' because they need more calories. Just get a basic diet established like what I laid out, and you'll be fine.

edit: Thank God you meant real ramen soup....

6'3 and 155 can be very athletic depending on your sport. That's a light but doable weight for a runner, for example.

1. Start with the fat loss sticky, which contains good advice whether you are trying to gain/lose/maintain weight.
2. Read Michael Pollan's In Defense of Food. Realize that while humans have managed to live healthily off of a very wide range of diets, one of the only diets that consistently makes us sick (heart disease, obesity, diabetes, etc) is the "Western Diet", which is primarily characterized by huge quantities of highly processed "food products."
3. Pick whatever diet you like that isn't the "western diet". For example, the Mediterranean diet, paleo diet, or even just a diet based on whole/unprocessed foods (see my diet experiment thread). Just about any of these will be healthier than what you're eating now.

Oh, and for the record, 155lbs is very skinny for 6'3". I don't think it's too relevant to this thread and I'm not sure why you got so much crap for it, but very few people look "athletic" at those stats. Of course, professional athletes with those stats are the exception, but I doubt you're a pro athlete and I doubt there are too many with those numbers (most 155lb MMA fighters are much shorter).

jealousy. because he can eat like an absolute pig and not gain a pound. If I ate his diet, I would be 300lbs in a month. Well, that's my reason anyways.

The reason he's so small is because he isn't eating enough. If he plugged down enough calories, he would gain 300 pounds just like everybody else.

OP what are your goals besides eating healthier? If you run marathons, I doubt you want extra weight but if you're running 400m, playing Basketball or just wanting to look better extra weight (hopefully mainly muscle) is a great thing to strive for.
