FD

:Q :Q :Q

how much was it? and how many miles?... i'm a stubborn bastard and despite not having enough money for maintenance im still thinking of getting one... and an FC as a project car.

kremlar, details on ur fd?

boyracer... before i had to quit acura b/c of being a full time student... i was planning on financing an fd in like 3-4 months... 8k down, 12k loan, then i'd have 20k to play w/ for the car... and in the future, when my n/a fc blows, going 20b!!

[/hijack]

lol... yeah you're the nut who wanted a 20b. :Q

im looking for a red one too... but i don't want to finance it or take out a loan. ok don't wanna keep hijacking skoorbs thread.

btw, congrats!!

Thanks!

I actually purchased a downpipe and have been debating on whether or not to install it. I keep going back and forth, because I swore to myself I wanted to keep it stock since it's more something I want to keep for a long period of time in 'classic' condition rather than wring performance out of it.

I know most consider it a reliability mod, lower temps, etc., and that it shouldn't affect warm emissions testing, but I'm concerned about it running a bit lean with the cat-back. Then that opens up a WHOLE other can of worms. I know it should still be good, but I'm still undecided.

I do plan on installing a turbo guage, maybe over the winter. I plan on getting the hoses done when I have to get a rebuild (unless I have a problem before then....)

you'll only be running lean if you get too much boost... so get the dp, and stay away from the midpipe put in a catback, and you're gonna need a boost controller... and eventually a piggyback of some sort... if you talk to a lot of the rx7 guys, iirc, you should be fine w/ just a dp and a catback... besides, you can keep ur stock dp, no one said you ahve to throw it away

I love it - I've always wanted a 3rd gen, since they came out in 92-93. Too expensive for me at the time, and when I could afford one I just drove way too many miles to have it be practical. Now I can actually afford keeping it as a weekend/summer car, which is what I'm planning on doing.

Cost $12,500, 82K miles, real good shape, completely stock - which is what I wanted. I don't think I'll do anything other than the cat-back.

I'm completely jealous!

Congrats!

Heh, poor Skoorbie really wanted that car...on the way home, I asked what the monthly payments would be and very quietly, he says "$550 or so" and my heart broke for him! It was funny. He turned into a little child and had "the wants" and then when he got into his little sentra this morning ($0 monthly payment) he emailed me saying how nice it was not to have that second payment! So, the adult won the battle.

Still...I am kinda awaiting the day he drives home in some sports car....

Me too, believe me It could happen at any times. Perhaps I'll drive home in an early 90's 300ZX one day and that will be that!

I think enough money could do it, but for practical purposes car and driver at least said it's not something we're going to see.

I wonder why, considering the rx7s were able to be turboed? Kind of sad knowing that the RX8 is topped out, even if you never had any intentions of giving it more power.

To answer your question: Did the RX7 had a rotary engine?

The answer is yes, so how does that answer my question?

Well I wasn't trying to be an a$$, I didn't know if it had a rotary engine or not, so i was going to base my search on that

Maybe this page might help: http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/showthread/t-61076.html

That would be nice. The great thing about this car is that guys can sell it to their wife as a family car. Thing even has hook ins in the back for a child's seat. It's seriously capable of holding 4 adults too! Now, trunk room of course is not big.

Emissions baby. The current RX-8 barely passed emissions. I imagine slapping on a turbo would cause it to fail emissions.

I remember reading that was the biggest hurdle when designing this engine, getting it to meet emissions standards. Some guy came up with a novel way of handling it and the new rotary went ahead with production.
