No, I called it a McMansion.
Your brother's house is ridiculously fancy.
They explicitly did not want to live that way.

I'm not a hater like everyone else in this thread, but I liked the exterior before you posted that pic. It would have looked better if the garage entrance (single car garage???) was on the side. And it's too asymmetrical. The right side is bigger than the left side.

There's a detached double car garage behind the house. The attached garage is a single.

And I ran out of hosting room at bbzzdd.

The house is 18,000 square feet, 1/10th of a mile long. 100mb of pictures and I still don't have pics of all of it.

Denise Richards lives at the bottom of the hill behind his house. I watched that house be built.

Tsshh, thats only a half-court! :brokenheart:

Well, by 28 my brother was very wealthy. They wanted a house that reminded them of Hawaii and the hotel they stayed at, could be used for company parties (He's been CEO of two companies now... the first with nearly a thousand emplyees) and enough roon to play with all their toys.

He's a complete geek who builds large (talking 16+foot) rockets in his garage.

I figured there must be more garage space somewhere. It just looks strange with the garage door on the front of the house. You usually see that on less expensive houses where land is scarce.

MMMmmm now THAT is a true mansion...almost as nice as my friend's place on Sunset Blvd in Bel-Air (his mom is ex-CEO of Mattel)

Your brother needs to water the lawn.

The lawn looks fine now. It was winter and the sod was just laid that week.

The lawn is the same kind used on greens and trimmed just as short. So it takes quite a while to get just right. It looked like hell for the first year or two.

What does your brother do for a living?

He was CEO of a networking company. Sold that and recently started another focusing on wireless.

He's self made, just as I am. No family money whatsoever.

Sometimes life just ain't fair.

Everything is a mess because he's still moving in, and alot of stuff is still unfinished.

Entrance
Kitchen
Kitchen 2
living room
Unfinished master bath
Front Exterior
Front Exterior 2
Upstairs hall

I didn't post pics of the dining room, study, family room, or any of the bedrooms because everything was a huge mess.

huh...almost as big as my gardener's summer home

That is her grandfather's philosophy. I mean, he has a nice house, I was in it, indoor pool, absolutely huge, but the outside is very plain and can't be seen at all from the street. And the inside is very classy, very nice, not fancy at all, just pure class. My sister-in-law told me that when he built it he said he's living his life for himself and his family, not to impress anyone. And when he built that house he was worth over 11 billion.

Yep. Not saying which, though. He was CEO of a company he started with venture capital based on a brilliant idea for a product.
