The difference being this one is probably paid off with cash while your buddies probably have a mortgage they can't really afford.

The house he owned before this one looked much the same, but was 6000 SF and on one of the lots this house sits on today. He bought the lots next door and had this house built.

I'll tell you what's a bitch though: Being in the garage area ready to go and realizing you've left something you need in the master bedroom area on the other side of the house. You then have to run a tenth of a mile back to the MB wing down a flight of stairs along the way, get it, and run a tenth of a mile back, up a flight of stairs and back to the garages.

I told him he should install a tram.

His house is large, but there are bigger houses in the community. The largest is about 25,000 SF.

i wanna be a CEO, i knew mechanical engineering was the wrong path to choose. im 3 years in to my degree now so dropping it all now would be stupid.

He has a Masters in EE and an MBA. He's a geek turned CEO. He got the MBA AFTER he started the company. I remember being at COMDEX in Atlanta in 1990 and he slipped out to go to the library to write up something while working for his MBA.

Without his original brilliant product idea, he's be just another tech in the back with a t-shirt and holey jeans.

What exactly did he invent that led him to start the company?

I'd like to know as well. But I doubt Amused will reveal that in a public forum

I'm not going to say because it would give it away. Let's just say he revolutionized networking.

Congrats to your brother, Amused! But WTF does he still in CA with all those money-grabbing, hippy politicians out there?

Speaking of garages, what does he drive?

That would explain all of Amused's liberal rantings on this forum

Nice house.. I especially like the kitchen.

As a man though, I would have a hard time accepting money like that from my wifes family (unless it was inheritance), as a matter of pride.

I said it earlier in the thread.
They don't live the lifestyle of the uber-rich, her entire family does not live that way.
They live regular, normal lives, even though thet happen to be extremely wealthy.

He built an indoor racquetball court but no weight room for you to use when you come over? Not very thoughtful.

Edit:

If I had a little brother building a house like that, there would be a room for me filled with Eleiko, Ivanko and Ironmind products.
