I heard that if you disable some of the ports in the bios, that can help out with the battery life...

Is that true?

I just got the t450s with intel i7-5600U / 12GB RAM / 512 SSD running win7 pro. I added it into our office domain. The boot time from press power to login sound is 28 seconds, and it took 44 seconds from press Enter Key to show the desktop after enter the login info, the shutdown took even longer. I have the ESET, Chrome and Acrobat 11 installed only for now.

Pre-loaded with bloatware? Might need to re-image it with a more streamlined install.

It's been 4 months since I started using my t450s and I thought I'd report back on my user experience. In a word this laptop has been fantastic.

I love the display. Absolutely brilliant. Matte and IPS is the only way to go for me. The keyboard is also excellent. I'm still not hot on the touch pad. As I wrote before I don't like it being a button and the behavior at the edges is erratic. I'd rather have buttons at the top and bottom and a fixed (non button) touchpad.

Battery life is good for me but if I were a frequent traveler I'd want better battery life. Performance is good. I'll do everything I do on my desktop on it except video rendering. Rendering is just much faster with a true quad. But it's easy enough to create a project and render on my desktop.

On that note I should say that I'm using my desktop A LOT less and this laptop a lot more than I thought. I can actually see a point in time where my desktop would be more of a "back up" computer and not the computer I use day-to-day. I never thought I'd write that... but there it is.

Basically if I could get this form factor and battery life with the performance of my 4770k I could ditch my desktop. I wouldn't actually get rid of it but I certainly wouldn't upgrade it. It might just be my last desktop computer.

Having used my T450s for some weeks now, I echo Hulk's comment about just how much I've been using the notebook to the exclusion of my desktop, even though the latter has dual 2560x1600 displays and much more horsepower. The exceptional keyboard and trackpoint have a lot to do with it-- I can't speak to the touchpad, as I don't use it, but the trackpoint has kept me in the Lenovo ecosystem for years. I'm just glad they brought back the dedicated trackpoint buttons.

Bought this laptop about 3 months ago and it's frozen now. There are lights on the function key, and functions 1 and 4, buy otherwise it's dead as a dodo. I've tried holding down the on/off key for 30 seconds, with power lead both in and out, but nothing happens, only the power switch blinks for a short while when I plug in the power lead.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks very much

You are under warranty so I'd call Lenovo. Other than that I'd say remove both external and internal batteries for a hard restart but removing the bottom cover is a PITA. I'd call Lenovo, give up kind of quick on their advice and send it back to them for a new one or factory repair.
